If the Democratic Party apparatus is so strong, why is it struggling to beat back challenges from the left in districts where Republicans are a complete non-factor?
Surely its infrastructure, volunteers, donors, voter file & message should be enough to keep them at bay, right?
Rep. Ritchie Torres won New York’s 15th Congressional District Democratic primary on Tuesday with 23,258 votes, or 71.9% of ballots cast, defeating Michael Blake and Jose Vega in a low-turnout contest.
Andre Easton, a Bronx public school teacher and pro-Palestine socialist who is running as an independent in November, said the result “is not a victory resulting from mass support,” noting Torres received just 23,000 votes in a congressional district of roughly 750,000 residents.
Easton also announced he had filed more than 10,000 petition signatures to secure a place on the general election ballot against Torres. He says the “fight… has just begun.”

An American just got sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for moving “Antifa” zines and there’s about 1000x as much media coverage of Trump’s reflecting pool 👍
I don’t think dsa is culturally prepared for an influx of very normal people with underdeveloped politics. there does have to be a dsa cultural reckoning across the country if we’re going to win.

As I’ve been saying for a year+ at this point: The Democratic establishment has no juice. They’re not connected to or in touch with voters, they don’t have a secret list of volunteers — there is no machine anymore (for better or for worse). They are never unbeatable, only unchallenged.
The behavior from Hakeem Jeffries, Donna Brazile, Jamie Harrison, and Letitia James has been pathetic. Not once have they centered the people; it’s been all about the democratic establishment and their egos. These are not public servants; they’re just here to serve themselves.
