Don't miss @bowerbirdthings in this avian-inspired concert at Monk Space, this Saturday August 6th, 3pm, reviewed as "spectacular".

Killer review of James Newton's 1977 debut, "Flute Music!" (just reissued) We made a music video last year set to his affecting solo trumpet work, "The Voice of One Crying in the Wilderness"

Sad news. William Kraft was a friend of Jacaranda ... we were honored to have recorded and released his brilliant "Quillery" for harpsichord, on our "Charged Embrace" album. RIP to one of the greats.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of William Kraft. Few in our community have done more to shape contemporary music in Los Angeles and beyond than Kraft. A percussionist with the LA Phil for 26 years and principal timpanist for 18, Kraft also served as assistant (1/2)
Couple super exciting concerts from our friends @laphil this weekend, check them out! @esapekkasalonen@jamesmcvinnie including a world premiere from Gabriella Smith, and Strauss' "Zarathustra" from 2001! https://t.co/L8xFXRQRXO
So cool! Excited to see how this massive set explores this side of his legendary body of work. We have a copy of his Nonesuch "Electro-Acoustic" music LP for sale in our Black Gold store, so we're excited to hear even more in this vein ...

Fascinating article about an ongoing 639-year performance (now in year 21) of #johncage's "Organ2/ASLSP," which will be losing a note tomorrow that's been played for the last 518 days! https://t.co/TNuG7ZvPcb
Fascinating interview with @lichensarealive on his @CandymanMovie score. There are subtle nods to @philipglass' score for the original '92 film, but Lowe's score is ultimately totally unique and fits the film like a glove.
Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe:
"To be able to expand the world with tone and pitch is something that’s interesting to me. A 12-note scale is fine, but it’s not something I want to be beholden to."

Even though we sadly had to scuttle "Gratitude," we've been busy at the Jacaranda hideout this winter! Check out our most recent visual/music entry, "Small Towns in Big Cities," featuring piano reduction of #aaroncopland's "Our Town" score. https://t.co/25IrzyiGOX
Due to the Omicron surge in LA county, Jacaranda has cancelled its 1/22/22 concert, "Gratitude." Stay safe everyone – we'll see you on March 19 at First Pres. Santa Monica for "Troposphere!"
