The Garland Fire Department would like to honor and celebrate the life of Kasey King, a dedicated firefighter with the Garland Fire Department whose impact will never fade. Kasey’s journey with the GFD began on November 11, 2002, and for over two decades, he gave his heart and soul to the service of others. Kasey went to heaven at 5:03 pm on March 16, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends.
Kasey spent most of his career at Station 8, the rescue station for the GFD. Kasey was the embodiment of what it means to be a firefighter-a true hero in every sense. Kasey’s service extended beyond his skill in tactical rescue and firefighting. He was a firefighter’s firefighter, always ready to lend a hand, listen, or dive into action when the need would arise. His experience, knowledge and personality made him a natural leader. He had a way of making everyone around him feel at ease, offering kindness and support in any situation. His unwavering commitment to others-no matter what he was going through himself-defined him as a person and a professional.
Beyond the firehouse, Kasey’s commitment to his community was equally powerful. Kasey was a baseball coach where he didn’t just teach kids the game of baseball: he mentored them, teaching them the importance of integrity, purpose and perseverance. His influence shaped not only the athletes he coached but the individuals they will grow to become, leaving a lasting impact in the hearts of so many.
Kasey leaves behind a legacy of service, leadership and compassion. His legacy will continue to inspire us in the firehouse, the kids on the ballfields, and in all the ways he touched the lives of those around him.
Kasey, you will never be forgotten. Your courage, dedication and spirit will live on in all of us.
