@sjq000 @Cheshiregijinka You can see that she doesn't want to leave him, but that she's willing to die to protect him. This is already beyond just obedience to gendo in prioritization of unit-01, because she's more focused on shinji as shinji than just unit-01.

Rei betrayed Gendo inside the complex, taking ADAM but not giving him control in favor of finding Shinji. However, her ego is overwhelmed by ADAM/Llith, and she is along for the ride as SEELE's plan unfolds. Here we see her ego snap back into control upon seeing Unit-01 & Shinji.

@sjq000 @Cheshiregijinka It's largely inferred from how she reacts towards the angel as it invades her mind and goes towards unit-01, her displayed emotions as she triggers the self destruct, her knowledge of her replaceablity, that she knows she's different from rei i, etc.

@Cheshiregijinka One of Rei II's greatest regrets at the end of her life was that she wasn't sure if Rei III would know what Shinji meant to her as the memory uptake isn’t perfect and the iterations are quasi unique persons. I think it's clear they did. Her love helped her win the battle of wills

前の仕事は迂闊に電源を入れると高確率で死亡事故が発生する装置だったので、こんな感じで電源が絶対に入らないようにする安全器具が必須だった。(鍵は該当部のメンテ作業者が預かる)
ココまでしても「ねぇねぇカギ貸して」と平気で言ってくる奴が絶えない。前日に受けた安全教育は何だったんだ？
