The Czech Republic wants to follow in Poland's footsteps.

Politicians from the Czech SPD party have announced an initiative to revoke Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Order of the White Lion. They claim that the initiative was inspired by Karol Nawrocki's decision regarding the Order of the White Eagle.

Jindřich Rajchl of the PRO party, a member of the SPD parliamentary group, announced that the matter will be discussed during a meeting of the coalition council. The group's goal is to have the Chamber of Deputies ask President Petr Pavel to revoke the award:

Kiedy przekonuję, że dobre relacje Polski ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi są strategiczne i niezbędne dla naszego bezpieczeństwa, gdy dbam o nie i troszczę się, by były jak najlepsze, to najpierw słyszę śmiech, a później ataki i krytykę. Gdy podejmuję decyzje zgodne z polską racją stanu wobec Ukrainy, która coraz częściej przekracza granice dobrosąsiedzkich relacji, scenariusz się powtarza. Próbuje się w sposób skandaliczny stawiać znak równości między Prezydentem własnego państwa a Prezydentem państwa, które czci ludobójców mordujących Polaków. I znów, po paru dniach (niektórzy) politycy niejako dojrzewają i zaczynają swój błąd rozumieć.

Cieszy mnie to! Tak wyobrażam sobie rolę Prezydenta RP. Jestem częścią Narodu, który mnie wybrał, moje serce bije polskim rytmem. Mówię głosem Polek i Polaków oraz stoję na straży ich interesów. Jestem wierny Polsce.

Dlatego mam obowiązek narzucać wolę Narodu tym, którzy nie czują się wobec Polek i Polaków szczególnie zobowiązani. Tym, którzy zamknęli się w świecie politycznych kalkulacji, słupków sondaży czy plemiennych walk, przez co stracili kontakt ze społeczną rzeczywistością i oczekiwaniami obywateli.

Polski rząd powinien się jednoznacznie sprzeciwić członkostwu Ukrainy w Unii Europejskiej - w każdej wersji, również członkostwu "lite", "częściowemu", "wstępnemu" i wszelkim innym prawnym potworkom, które wymyślą w Brukseli.

Nawet zgoda na prowadzenie przez Unię dalszych negocjacji akcesyjnych powinna zostać powiązana z postawieniem Ukrainie konkretnej listy warunków z zakresu polityki historycznej, współpracy gospodarczej oraz poszanowania praw polskiej mniejszości i uzależniona od spełnienia tych warunków.

Ukraiński rząd nieustannie eskaluje spór z Polską. Brak twardej reakcji i sięgnięcia po narzędzia będące w naszej dyspozycji to oznaka beznadziejnej słabości i gwarancja, że w przyszłości Ukraina będzie jeszcze mniej liczyła się z Polską.

If the collective West genuinely believes in defending democracy in Ukraine, it cannot remain silent about the unfolding glorification of the UPA.

🇪🇺Commission should immediately pass a resolution condemning the whitewashing of a movement implicated in the ethnic cleansing of tens of thousands of civilians, including 🇵🇱children, women and men.

After all, it did not hesitate to denounce President Yushchenko's 2010 decision to award Stepan Bandera the title of "Hero of Ukraine."

Such a resolution would be an act of justice toward the UPA victims of the UPA. It would also serve as a reminder to Ukraine of the direction it should be taking—and of what it means to confront the past with honesty and responsibility.

Reading about Zelenskyy's National Pantheon, I feel betrayed. And I suspect millions of Ukrainians who voted for him in 2019 feel the same.

We did not vote to elevate a regional, Western Ukrainian cult of ultranationalists, fascists, and antisemites, responsible for the killing of Polish, Jewish, and Ukrainian civilians, including women, children, and the elderly under the slogans "Glory to Ukraine!" and black-and-red flags into the pantheon of national heroes.

That is certainly not what Kharkiv, Dnipro, or Odesa voted for. Bandera and Shukhevych are not their heroes. In their historical memory, these are not liberators but men whose followers shot their grandfathers and mutilated their grandmothers.

These are not the heroes a democratic state in the twenty-first century should be enshrining.

The tragedy is not merely that this history remains contested. It is that the Ukrainian state is attempting to settle that dispute from above, by transforming one regional historical myth into an official national creed.

Ukraine under Zelenskyy has taken a wrong turn.
