my mom has installed a painting about the repeated death and reinvention of innocence above my childhood bathroom, but refuses to admit that she misses me.
this is a painting about 5 kittens who've lost their mother figure and are playing with her scents and usual things, just beginning to consider what it means that she's gone. the circular composition - the mirror to clock to flowers to table to mirror again - makes it cyclical:
last story: grumpy nun brings a shark to german politics
next story: retired gay musicians find a dog that returns their memories
story that got me into the program: ontario mennonites dig up strange potatoes
story that almost killed me: my dad burying a dead sheep beside a giant
