The solution is to significantly increase the frequency of every transit route currently paralleling I-77.
You won’t get most cars off the road but you can take a lot of them off.
Charlotte is better off with this vote. Remember that communities along this corridor continue to live with impact and harm from past decisions. @NCDOT now has an opportunity to start fresh and work WITH our community in good faith to build trust and repair the corridor.
I'm at the MPTA retreat. The MPTA is discussing the Silver Line and ways to get the light rail closer to Matthews.
An engineering firm studying the Silver Line's design is recommending consolidating the Remount/Berryhill stations, eliminating the Summit and First Ward stations, moving the 11th Street station and shifting the Bojangles Coliseum station from in front of the arena to near the highway. Even with all of these changes though, there is not enough money to expand to Sharon Amity Road, let alone Matthews.
Lost in the debate: Democrats have been totally screwed by Republican gerrymandering nationwide.
Republicans **currently** have a 16 seat gerrymandering advantage according to the non-partisan @BrennanCenter.
Gerrymandering handed the GOP majorities in the House in ‘22 and ‘24.
@_Rob__G_ The Ped crossing there is nice. Definitely a huge improvement. Moving the light back and putting some solid stop lines on the road should be an easy lift for the city.
