Big news from Rhodes! 🎉
Dr. Eric Gottlieb, associate professor of mathematics and statistics, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar Award to teach and conduct research at the University of Primorska in Koper, Slovenia from October 2026–February 2027.
This marks his second Fulbright, building on decades of work in combinatorial game theory—exploring how games like chess differ from games of chance and what makes them complex to solve.
From commercial salmon fishing in his early years to international research collaborations, Dr. Gottlieb’s journey reflects the spirit of curiosity and global impact that defines Rhodes faculty. 🌍
👏 Join us in congratulating him on this achievement!

This has to be one of the most impressive slumps in recent Clemson Baseball memory (I purged my memory of the ML years). Maybe it’s what we need to grow but dang 😬
Congratulations to Dario Cardamone, who successfully defended his dissertation today. Dario will be an assistant professor at Villanova University starting this fall. @VillanovaU. Pictured here with his committee, his sister (a first-year PhD student here), and other students.
It says something when a struggling player gets a couple hits and the dialogue around it is disappointment because it likely means he “bought himself a little more leash”
