Mid Illinois Top 3 teams IMO.
East Peoria: for most they will be the favorite to win the conference. They are lead by big time recruit Jr 6’6 Quinton Kitt & Dynamic Jr PG Cole Dubois. Sr CG Jackson Ahrens has also been a steady scoring punch for EP the last couple of seasons & brings a ton of experience to this group. Sr 6’3 AJ Evans & So. 6’4 Kaylen Hardy (both Peoria High Transfers) will add some size, length, skill to EP. Would assume talented Fr. PG Kingston Weatherspoon will be with Varsity team as well. Tons of scoring options & expectations for this group. Their non-conference schedule not being very challenging overall, is a thing that confuses me some because they have the players to get some banger games. New experience for them being the hunted vs the hunter.
Morton: Upperclassmen driven team that lost some key pieces but have guys ready to step into those spots. Jr. 6’6 Wing Brendan Petty is poised to have a big season. Sr sharp shooter Alex McKie, Sr junkyard dog Silas Steffen, Sr 6’8 Tommy Krupa adds size in the paint, Sr Jude Zeller & Sr Owen Adams bring some steady play to the backcourt. 6’0 Sr CG Jack Wilderman (PND Transfer) brings both a scoring punch & speed/physicality to the guard position. 6’2 Soph Reid Neuhoff will get some meaningful minutes for the Potters this season. I have a feeling they will challenge EP for the conference title.
Metamora: Major youth movement here. 2028 class is loaded with size, skill, potential, and athleticism. Soph Wing 6’6 Brady Jones is the lone varsity major minute returner (now bigger & stronger). I would expect his production to take off. I believe Soph 6’4 G Sam Koch will really jump onto radars all over the state this year. Shot Making Guard that can get buckets in a lot of ways while also possessing the athleticism to play above the rim. Soph PG Collin Morrison with a super competitive physical PG that will get the keys to lead. Soph 6’6 Big Cameron Beekman gives them some length and athleticism inside. Juniors Gavin Geier, 6’3 Briggs Bucy, Logan Vasquez, Zach Born will all add depth and skill to this roster. Soph 6’5 Jaxson Backes & 6’5 Fr Eamon Lynch could also maybe see some varsity minutes through out the season.
Fall League Prospects Pt 3
2026 G 6’1 Alex McKie (Morton HS) a true sniper that has elite ability to make 3’s from all over. Good quickness and has improved on getting using shot fakes to get to pull ups or finishes at the rim. He also looks more comfortable handling the ball vs pressure.
2026 G 6’1 Logan Kurtz (Tuscola HS) is as confident as we have ever seen him. Can tell he has been in the weight room and it has given him a different element to create space. Has really improved the consistency of his 3 point shooting. He has shown the ability to get into the paint with physical drives, using his quickness, and also thru change of pace.
2026 G 6’2 Lakon Otto (Canton HS) has a surprising 1st step and bounce. Good size combo guard that has shown the ability to play as a lead guard or scoring guard. Uses his body well to absorb contact or to create space. Have a feeling he could put up some big numbers this yr.
2026 G 6’0 Kyler Owens (Orion HS) has improved his pace a ton from last year. He is still really quick but has been really good in using change of pace to get to his spots or to create openings for teammates. Has had a couple finishes up by the rim, which has shown improved athleticism around the rim. Truly believe he could be a 20pt + scorer this year for Orion.
2026 G 6’3 Masen Johnson (Jacksonville HS) is a scoring guard with great frame. Wiry strong with decent strength. Has a pretty release on his jumper. He has shown the ability to drive and finish but he looks most comfortable knocking down jumpers.
2026 G 6’1 Jack Wilderman (Morton HS) a transfer from Peoria ND has really improved his outside shooting. He will give a morton another good scoring option and a dude that plays both ends extremely hard. Combo guard with high energy and competitiveness at all times.
D3-NAIA-JUCO level players that are worth the look.
