We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to show the country what Ipswich is made of.
I am proud of Ipswich, and that is why I am firing the starting gun on our City of Culture bid.
Join me and help build a new future for our town!
Lance Corporal James Freeman served our country with dedication, professionalism and pride.
He was a greatly valued member of his regiment who will be deeply missed.
My thoughts are with his family, loved ones and colleagues at this devastating time.
I'm really pleased to see the Arras Square project move forward.
These upgrades will provide a real uplift, with improved paving, disabled access, better lighting and CCTV, and new seating.
Work starts in a few weeks' time and will finish by Christmas.

'My question for Nigel Farage is - why does the family of Henry Nowak mean nothing to you?'
@Peston addresses Farage directly over his claims of 'two-tier' policing.
The Reform leader called for people to respond with ‘pure, cold rage’, despite the family's appeal for calm.
No, this wasn't a 'localised' incident as Reform-led Suffolk County Council said.
I have received reports of flooding from right across Ipswich.
It had a massive impact - that is why I have written to both SCC and Anglian Water to make sure their drainage is up to scratch.
After the extensive flooding that occured in Ipswich yesterday, I have written to Suffolk County Council and Anglian Water urging them to carry out an immediate review into all drainage infrastructure, and to fix any defects as soon as possible.
Henry Nowak was 18 - a kind and hard-working student with his life ahead of him. His murder – at the hands of Vickrum Digwa - was a horrifying and evil act. Digwa murdered Henry and then lied about him, as he lay dying - falsely accusing him of racism.
The Nowak family deserve answers about what happened on that night, particularly in the police response. @policeconduct will be equipped with the resources, authority and independence it needs to conduct a full, fearless and transparent investigation. They must find the truth and ensure, if necessary, that there are consequences.
It is also clear that we must take action to tackle the daily tragedy of knife crime. Progress has been made, with knife crime now falling, but we must go further. That is why I have recently published this Government's Halving Knife Crime Plan.
We must be clear about who is responsible for this crime. The punishment must be reserved for those who are responsible for this evil act. We do not believe in collective punishment in this country. Instead, we stand together against an act of pure evil. We condemn those who committed this heinous crime. Not all those who share their faith or ethnicity.
A final note. With further sentencing and possible charges pending, and misinformation already circulating, we must be cautious in what we say about this case so proceedings are not placed at risk. Those responsible must be brought to justice.
I'm always proud to be part of Team Ipswich, but I especially was yesterday.
On #PowerOfYouthDay, Youth and Civil Society Minister @Steph_Peacock signed The Power of Youth Charter.
They are shaping their own futures, as well as those of generations to come.
As ever, they spoke with such passion, authenticity and clarity, and, as ever, they represented our town with distinction. They are not just leaders of tomorrow, but leaders right now, today.
Today is #PowerOfYouthDay – a chance to celebrate and grow youth social action.
This year’s theme is #CommonGround, where we choose to stand together, with and for young people.
Because when young people’s voices are heard, everything gets better.
Join us.

I visited businesses in the Buttermarket to talk about our Government's Great British Summer Savings.
Families in Ipswich will pay less for children’s meals, tickets to cinemas and theatres, and entry to attractions like soft play.
Kids aged 5-15 travel free on local buses too!
I know how distressing it is for patients to repeat their medical history over and over.
And the effort it takes for NHS staff to get the information they need.
We'll join up this fragmented system, helping clinicians give safer, co-ordinated care.
NEW: Landlords and courts will get new powers to evict domestic abuse perpetrators from social homes, without the victim having to leave first.
Under legislation introduced by this government, perpetrators will no longer be able to use social housing as a weapon of control.
That's alongside building more homes and reforming the Right to Buy scheme, all part of our reforms to deliver stability for families in social housing.
It was great to see so families families enjoying the New Wolsey Theatre's Big Afternoon yesterday.
There was live music, arts and crafts, games and more!
Huge thanks to the New Wolsey team for putting on this free event, and all the people and orgs who helped make it happen.
Great to be at the @CoopParty's Community Britain conference in the East.
Pleasure to talk to Meg Griggs about the Co-operative Party in Government.
Doubling the co-operative and mutual sector, the Local Power Plan, Community Right to Buy and tackling retail crime all featured.
New defence deal secured 🇬🇧🇦🇺🇺🇸
Today, we announced the first ever AUKUS pillar 2 signature project.
Backed by over £150M, our new weapons and sensors for undersea drones will secure the High North and Indo Pacific.
We’re full steam ahead on AUKUS.
Last month, I was delighted to welcome more than 40 leaders from Suffolk to Parliament and introduce them to senior members of our Government.
The event demonstrated the strength and diversity of our county, but also the challenges that need to be tackled to reach our potential.
In a world that feels increasingly divided, Ipswich continues to invest in young people. As the first Town of Youth Social Action, we're proud to champion youth voices.
Next week on 2 June, I’ll be standing on #CommonGround with young people across the country.
