Bitcoin miners agreed to stop mining.

And that's exactly why utilities love them:

Over 15% of MISO's power production went offline during the severe winter storm.

But the grid was stable because Bitcoin miners powered down within minutes.

No factory can do this. And tier 1 data centers won't accept less than 99% uptime.

Unlike any other industrial load, mining is fully interruptible and programmable.

Miners absorb surplus when it's cheap and they pause when the grid is stressed.

This makes miners the ideal utility customer.

When running, they bring revenue to utilities and communities.

When shutdown, they stabilize the grid, and still bring revenue to utilities and communities.

The best grid asset isn't a battery.

It's a customer who pays you whether they use power or not.

My friend built a house… heated by a bitcoin miner.

6 kW hydro Antminer heats the whole 140 m² (1500 ft²) home plus hot water for the bathroom.

He called this a “Bitcoin Shower Project” but I think it’s a Hashpunk Citadel 🔥

In apartments. I agree that you should try to get a s19 but a bit axe is a good way for some people to get into mining and have a low power / cost machine run in a small space.
