My heart is heavy with the news of the tragedy at EastLake Community Church this evening.
I am grateful for the quick response of first responders, and our team is in close contact with the response team on the ground to provide assistance.
I am praying for the EastLake Community Church and all who are impacted, and we will continue to support the community during this difficult time.
🚨 Gov. Spanberger just signed a bill package to prevent future sickle cell deaths in Virginia.
The bill was named after Candis Gabriella King, a child who died of sickle cell.
59 years ago today, Richard and Mildred Loving — two Virginians who simply wanted to build a life together — changed our nation forever.
On Loving Day, we honor their courage and recommit to a Commonwealth where every family is treated with dignity and every Virginian's right to love is protected.
.@GovernorVA signed a bill yesterday to create a state internship coordinator, with the goal of helping students eventually work for the Virginia government. Quite the boon for students at a capital city school like @vcu, which requires all students to do an internship 🎓
Yesterday, @GovernorVA signed @SenatorLocke’s Senate Bill 22 into law.
This legislation helps address health disparities by requiring continuing education on implicit and explicit bias for health care providers.
Every Virginian deserves to be heard and receive quality care.
I'm working to contend with the high costs squeezing families so kids across Virginia can inherit a strong economy full of opportunities. I want my three daughters and every young Virginian to be able to get a great education, afford a home of their own one day, and build the lives they want.
“I’m a fourth generation farmer in Surry County…it’s really important to me to be a part of this here and get to meet the Governor.
The Governor cares about the people that feed and fuel and clothe our nation and the Commonwealth.”
—Elizabeth Cooper, fourth-generation farmer in Surry County, VA.
Today we signed bipartisan bills that centralize, strengthen, and grow internship opportunities across Virginia’s state agencies.
When a student learns how our government works, builds relationships, and discovers a career path here, they are far more likely to stay in Virginia. That is good for them and is good for the Commonwealth.
Skilled workers and talented union tradespeople are fundamental to our competitive advantage. Right now, as demand for electricians, pipefitters, and builders to fill open jobs continues to rise, we have the workforce to meet the moment. Google's investment in these training programs is the kind of partnership that can help close the skills gap, keep our Commonwealth and our country competitive, and connect our workers with the tools they need to succeed in with good-paying, family-sustaining careers.
Today, we welcomed @GovernorVA Abigail Spanberger to Sentara Community Care Center in Newport News where she signed the Queen Candis Sickle Cell Act: https://t.co/9ovK5qXQhw
For too long, sickle cell disease has not received the research funding, the policy attention, or the public awareness that it demands.
After I was elected last fall, I directed my team to prioritize the sickle cell community — to listen to advocates, to work with our legislators, and to put the full weight of the Governor's office behind getting these bills across the finish line. I am so grateful we’re finally here today.
It was great to be in Washington County to visit Highland Dairy — a family farm started in 1946!
June is Virginia Dairy Month, and I’m happy to be celebrating it with Virginia dairy farmers.
Today at Copenhaver Brothers Farm, I had the opportunity to listen to Virginia cattlemen, farmers, and producers.
The agriculture industry is facing unprecedented challenges — from increasing costs to hostile trade policies out of Washington — and my Administration is taking action to make sure farmers get the support they need.
It was an honor to celebrate the 100th year of FFA at Virginia Tech!
FFA is a central part of Virginia's proud legacy of agricultural leadership.
It’s always great to meet the young leaders who choose to continue this Virginia tradition.
We love celebrating #VirginiaAgWeek with @GovernorVA & @AgForestryVA 🚜 #VirginiaIsForFarmLovers ❤️ – check out those hats! We hope everyone takes time this week to buy local, visit a farm, or thank a farmer… and do it again next week & all year round!

Farmers are the backbone of this economy. That’s why I am proud to sign legislation that will strengthen agriculture and forestry in Virginia.
These bills will make a real difference in helping two of Virginia’s top industries thrive.
Grocery prices are up and gas prices are through the roof thanks to President Trump.
With inflation at a three-year high, we are all feeling the impact of President Trump’s chaotic policies and his reckless war in the Middle East.
Virginians deserve better.
