For anyone happening to take a look at my profile here is the context:
I am a GrapheneOS user.
I like the OS and I like the community around it .
I like the developers who are very approachable, transparent, and have a good work ethic.
Nobody knows everything, even people on the internet can be mistaken.
On top of that our ideas and knowledge of the past changes regularly.
If you have doubts about something, do your own research, check several sources, never trust anyone blindly, and yes, that includes me.
@MikhailaAleksis There's not much point in it as we may bring examples that _we_ deem racist. We will never hear his explanation for why he did what he did .
So our attempt would be an exercise in what we perceive as prejudice expressed in his work rather than an actual study of what he thought .
@whitequark Or, seen through the other end of the telescope, conscious attention is a harmless app the brain runs intermittently using spare cycles. So all of human history is basically xscreensaver.
@0K_ultra conscious focused attention might seem sharp, continuous, and complete whereas it is an abstraction built by selectively filtering choppy perception and then reconstructing the missing parts; similarly, flash memory stores a statistical approximation of your data, and…
@helenlewis@jordanbpeterson Your article seems to be a quick take on someone's life.
Well that happens often.
But this made him ask you a very specific and pointed question .
Because it is one thing to criticize Jordan Peterson
and
an entirely different thing to come up with That .
Your article .
5/ "Compelled speech does not become permissible because the person doing the compelling unilaterally decides it is only applying a little compulsion. William has been penalized for not speaking. This is compelled speech."
4/ DPAC: "at worst [W. Clark] suffered mere 'minimal discouragement.'"
Plaintiffs: "...it is extraordinary that a school would describe poor grades that might preclude a student from attending a preferred college or even graduating... as a 'discouragement,' not a penalty."
3/ DPAC insisted speech was not compelled because W. Clark was not required to "publicly" affirm his identities.
Plaintiffs: Not true, because W. Clark was required to enter the statements on Google documents accessible by his teacher, principal, and other employees.
2/ DPAC denies that W. Clark was compelled to say anything or profess any particular belief.
Plaintiffs reply that the required, graded assignments were a form of compelled speech.
"Speech is compelled if a speaker will 'suffer a penalty' for declining to speak."
1/ 🚨 ALERT: Plaintiffs Gabriella & William Clark reply to Democracy Prep Public School (DPAC) on abusive Critical Race Theory program.
"A school cannot, under the guise of 'curriculum,' invade its students’ consciences and require them to affirm beliefs they find repugnant."
I’m interested in interviewing anyone widely agreed upon *not* to be “problematic”, as well as any major institution that has actually solved the “systemic bias” issues that I see hurled as new allegations every day against some organization or the other. Please list below.
Thx.
