NEWS: Tesla has released a new video of its humanoid robot (Optimus) sorting battery cells using its real time end-to-end neural network.
“Optimus is currently being tested in one of our factories with a continuously decreasing rate of human intervention.
I test drove a Cybertruck today.
The steer-by-wire was pretty mind-blowing. It took a little getting used to but felt great once I did. I can't imagine at some point all future Teslas won't have this. It makes so much sense not to have to turn the wheel two times. And because there is no physical connection between the wheels and the steering wheel, Tesla can customize the road feedback you get through software.
The Cybertruck air suspension is the best suspension of any Tesla ever. It soaks up the bumps well and feels pretty floaty while on the highway.
A guy who was 6 feet 8 inches tall walked up to us at the Supercharger. He sat in the driver's seat and still had 4 extra inches of headroom above him. Tall people will have no issues with the front seats in the Cybertruck.
The Cybertruck steering wheel (squirkle) is the best one Tesla ships, IMO. It's a good medium between the traditional round wheel and Tesla's yoke. Having that flat top bar to rest your hand on is nice.
I tried the new Model 3 sound system yesterday, but the Cybertruck sound system is even more nutty. The bass is very powerful but not muddy, fidelity is good, and everything sounded really well-balanced. Kudos to @Tesla's audio engineers.
Acceleration, even for this AWD variant, is very quick. I can't imagine Cyberbeast acceleration. It just feels so strange to be in a truck that can accelerate this quickly lol.
I tried the wiper out too. I mean, it's just hilariously large. It feels like a giant katana blade is cleaning the windshield. The Cybertruck’s 4ft long Wiper Arm & Blade Assembly will cost $165 to replace. Not too bad.
The seats were really comfortable. The ventilation feature works well. Lower lumbar support I feel is better than other Teslas.
The four-wheel steering really does make this car feel a lot smaller in length than it actually is. The turning radius is very good. Tesla will soon release a software update that will increase the rear-wheel turning radius a good bit. It will be able to turn on a dime.
I noticed this with the new Model 3 yesterday, and the same applies here: Tesla has really dialed in fit and finish quality of their interiors. There were no issues that I noticed. I don't want to say the Cybertruck interior feels like a $100k vehicle, but it certainly feels like the most premium Tesla interior to date.
The dashboard is... gargantuan. Good luck easily reaching stuff that slides all the way forward.
I test rode in one Cybertruck today and test drove a different Cybertruck today. When you accelerate hard, the motors are noticeably louder, which I actually kind of like. It's interesting audible feedback. It's not an annoying fake sound pumped in through the speakers. This is also the best-handling truck on the market.
The rear seats are comfortable and the rear screen is nice. It's higher up than on other Teslas, so it's easier to reach. Headroom will be a concern though for some taller people in the back.
We charged another Tesla with the Cybertruck today. It was really simple. Handy feature for an emergency or if an EV needs a little charge.
One of my biggest concerns with the Cybertruck was how big the A-pillar is. The blind spot isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but you'll definitely be shifting your head around it a bit. The little window helps somewhat. This is a compromise due to the design of the vehicle, and all things considered, an acceptable one I think.
The last thing I'll touch on is the attention this truck gets. It's insane. People will literally let you go even if you don't have the right of way just so they can stare at your truck from the back as you drive. We drove by some kids today having a birthday party outside, and they were all freaking out that they saw this truck. A Bugatti doesn't even get this much attention.
Thanks @DennisCW_ for letting me drive your truck! He'll be releasing a video soon of me driving it so be sure to check that out.
