An internal "Incitement Committee," led by a former senior Shin Bet official, compiled files on 160 employees for their political speech, social media posts, and protest activity. 52 of them faced disciplinary action.

One file: 14 pages. Target: a school counselor who posted against the judicial overhaul. File number 23-178. Never meant to see the light of day.

The ministry's official line: we only investigate incitement and terror links.

The files show: anti-government protesters. Arab educators. People who attended rallies.

Israel is in an active war, fighting for its existence by its own framing. And its Education Ministry is running a secret Shin Bet-linked unit to compile dossiers on teachers who voted the wrong way.

Is this defensible in a democracy... even one at war?
