In what moment did we become so cynical & snobbish as film lovers to feel so emboldened to dismiss & even deny the quality value of entertaining blockbusters such as #Barbie, #DunePartTwo, #Wicked & others, as if that was the right thing to do?

This generation would never award #Titanic, #LoTR & so many other tentpole classics which, 2 decades ago, would break record of nominations - and rightly so - only because some wrongly think their #BoxOffice was their reward, forgetting that the studios are the ones who get this “reward”, and not the high calibre talent that worked their hearts out, for much longer than any talent in a small budget film usually does, to make the miracle of turning a blockbuster a quality and culturally relevant film.

People take that for granted, assuming that money buys quality, forgetting that most blockbusters usually fail to deliver said quality, and the ones which do deliver are the rare exceptions, not the rule.

And to imagine that a movie like Titanic would be downplayed as a genuine awards play nowadays is sad, depressing and shameful.

We can and should love and cheer up brilliant films such as #Anora & #TheBrutalist, but is that an excuse to dismiss the pharaonic effort put in films such as #AvatarTheWayOfWater & others constantly shut down from the awards convo only for being high budget films?

It Should be the opposite, those films, being good as they are and having something to say as they do, should be celebrated even more, and not demonised or denied as a form of art as much as our beloved low-mid budget comedies and dramas are.
