It’s true—dolphins were spotted in the Bronx River this week! This is great news—it shows that the decades-long effort to restore the river as a healthy habitat is working. We believe these dolphins naturally found their way to the river in search of fish.

On our field trip to Maroubra Beach, we learned that the further away from the ocean you move, the finer the sand becomes. This is because it’s easier for waves & the wind push back light sand. Hence why shells/heavy objects are found towards the water! #MarEnvS20

Absolutely! Fascinating to note the presence of nasal turbinate bones that seem to be so much more intricate than those of humans - an adaptation that allows polar bears to warm the extremely cold Arctic air more effectively. #MarEnvS20

There was a polar bear skull in class today and as a human anatomy student, I'm fascinated by how many more pores there are for blood vessels and nerves than there are in human skulls. I'd love to look more into that and why evolution made it that way.
