For all the right reasons "With the Old Breed" is the most popular book on the list.

The easiest and most informative book is the straight history "The Shattered Sword."

The first two books are both touching and quirky, but I love them.

Guadalcanal is 800 pages but fully describes the Guadalcanal campaign in one book.

Breakout: The Chosin Reservoir Campaign, Korea 1950 by Russ Martin is fantastic, but I didn't mention it.

When Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson lose their minds on the same day, we know the battle for the human spirit on earth is in profound turmoil.
If the battles of flesh and spirit on earth have risen to this pitch, one can scarcely doubt the fury now shaking the heavens.
War is war, and war is hell. I said as much to my fiancée when I returned from Vietnam and tried to explain a broken engagement shaped by that reality.
I see no worldly path to recovery for Tucker Carlson after his remarks on the Iran war. His hope lies beyond this world, in the spiritual realm, where the Almighty holds inexhaustible stores of grace.
I am inclined to go softer with Megyn Kelly. Some people endure long seasons of provocation before responding in kind, and history is full of unexpected moments when moral clarity arrives through acts of courage and mercy. Perhaps one day she will risk herself to save a vulnerable life outside her own family.
Many would count their own lives well spent if they were given to spare unnumbered thousands of Persian civilians from slaughter by their own government.

Those of us who think of ourselves as observant should have paid closer attention to the faces of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I wondered if they were mad at President Trump. As many days as I wore a war face in my youth, I should have recognized it when I saw it.
