“Do not hang your head… the impact that you had on young women and this sport will never be tarnished.”

.@Lindsay_Schnell asked Geno Auriemma how he made sure Paige Bueckers' spirit wasn't broken while injured last year.
An incredibly insightful two minute response ensued.
"She was always the most upbeat, positive person in the gym. You knew that when she went home she was a completely different person. You knew that it was killing her and tearing her apart, but great players like that, they carry a light around with them because she's a positive player who shines light on other people... But privately, yes, it tore her apart. I only saw it manifest itself once. We were playing at Tennessee. You come to UConn you want to play in a Tennessee game... I saw her breakdown in the locker room that game... These kids, this is what they dream of when they go to college and play basketball and if their dream taken away from them, it's like they're half a person. Some people are just miserable and let it beat them and some people, they don't let that happen. And Paige is one of those people."
Another successful week of practice and a strong outing for our first scrimmage. Friday theme was black out this week. One more week til our first game!
Coach Butch & @Lady_BearsBBall do it again! Coach Butch took over a basketball team at a volleyball school, that never won anything. It was 40 years since their last championship of any sort. One of the most winningest coaches in Ohio history couldn’t turn this team into a winner. Now he’s headed to another regional! He has built a PROGRAM, year in and year out, no matter who graduates, they still win. In a league that people chased Hoover, McKinley and most recently GlenOak, the Bears and Coach Butch are the standard!! He’s developed kids at all levels, from USA & WNBA, to D3, and lots of young women who didn’t have basketball in their future. He’s done it the right way, with care and patience, without basketball transfers, never once took a ringer from a Federal League opponent. Just put time in the gym, over and over again. He’s done it while starting a family, while teaching in the Jackson district, and while taking lumps from the league big dogs.
It’s time to give this man his flowers. Anthony Butch is among the best Stark County girls hoops have ever seen, no questions asked. Good guys do finish first!
WBB: Elizabeth Mason with ice in her veins! The freshman puts away John Carroll winning 63-58! She finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. She shot eight of eight from the free throw line including four in the final minute! #GoMountGo
The inaugural Childhood Cancer event at Hoover vs. Jackson basketball game serves as a kick-off for fundraising efforts for St. Baldrick's Foundation. https://t.co/G7WZPEPMZu

Very good spot up shooter, she makes life nice for us! Very high IQ as well, you can tell she watches a lot of basketball. She’ll surprise you from time to time with a really nice dime!

If there’s any confusion on how Coach Butch elevated a program without any basketball achievements in 40 years, to lots of league, district and regional banners…this is a huge part of it right here! 👏🏻
The journey starts today for the 2023-2024 Wizards! #TakingCareOfBusiness
