“Animal rights advocates say this is a clear sign the city needs to pass a proposed horse carriage ban.
This is not an isolated incident. That’s why we’re trying to get horses off the street and ban this cruelty,” said Edita Birnkrant of NYCLASS.” https://t.co/1WUpQfCp9p
@NYPDnews@NYPDSpecialops Thank you to Sgt Fontana and Officer Gehm. We know Gunner is badly injured. Without an independent vet we’ll never know. There are more accidents and sick horses than ever. Shame on us for letting this corrupt and cruel industry exist.
BREAKING: Another carriage horse ran wild and crashed in traffic - this time on the West Side Highway!
We don’t know the condition of the horse yet but we do know this cruelty and public safety nightmare needs to end. @@NYCSpeakerAdams@Lynn4NYC@galeabrewer@JustinBrannan
@TWULocal100@nycHealthy@NYCCouncil@Lynn4NYC As a Manhattan resident, I see the daily misery the horses endure, and the majority of New Yorkers polled agree with me. It’s disgraceful that by repping wealthy carriage owners, TWU is enabling horse abuse & preventing better jobs for workers/drivers: https://t.co/4a3OAoTVCZ
What a huge embarrassment and stain on NYC. Perhaps the few supporters of the carriage horse industry can get in a time machine and go back 100 plus years. Or just watch The Guilded Age on HBO for your kicks. It’s 2022 FFS.
Horses are not inanimate objects, but, because we can make a buck off of them, we treat them as though they're motor vehicles. Inhumane. Unsafe. Archaic. @JustinBrannan@Lynn4NYC@CMCarlinaRivera@GaleBrewerNYC@JulieMenin Pls replace horse-drawn carriages with electric carriages

.@TwuSamuelsen. I am a proud union member. My company is a union company. YOU are a total disgrace and embarrassment to unions everywhere. You take your frustrations out on the horses. Shame on you and the owners! RIP RYDER. The world is now watching you.
DANGER: Horse carriage caught driving on West Side Highway - in clear violation of @NYC_DOT laws, putting motorists, pedestrians and the horse at serious risk. Another reason we need to pass Ryder’s Law (Intro 573) in @NYCCouncil to replace this reckless danger.
Today I joined @NeilBreslin44, @PatriciaFahy109, and the New York State Animal Protection Federation to encourage Governor Hochul to sign New York’s puppy mill pipeline legislation (S.1130/A.4283) that would ban the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet stores. 1/
And there are MANY more like this one as seen on the video at the 38th st stable.. the next Ryders are suffering RIGHT NOW. Why is the city letting this abuse happen? 71% of New Yorkers want this “industry” banned.
URGENT: A malnourished carriage horse is displaying signs of distress RIGHT NOW in Midtown. The carriage license plate is 1075.
We need @NYPDPaws@nycHealthy to immediately examine this horse! The neglect and abuse of these horses needs to end. @BobHoldenNYC@NYCSpeakerAdams
The carriage horse industry and the @TWULocal100 constantly lie about the welfare of the horses. This video say IT ALL. Those horses are suffering beyond belief!
The video recorded by horse rescue group @UnbridledHeroes, provides a heartbreaking look at conditions at the 38 St stable
At least 9 horses with protruding bones are seen standing in tightly confined stalls with soiled floors + minimal bedding.
https://t.co/uefGQRimOk
Why is the @TWULocal100 and @TwuSamuelsen protecting the carriage horse OWNERS and NOT the workers? They’re exploiting the workers and abusing the horses. One has to wonder what is going on behind closed doors. Rest assured we will find out.
BREAKING:Supermodel @bellahadid put an urgent plea out for abused carriage horse Ryder to be released from his abusers & offered to “rescue him and take him home to safety.”
The world is watching @TWULocal100@NYCSpeakerAdams@NYCMayor
➡️TAKE ACTION:https://t.co/9SAkGJNMh4
@CarriageCavalry@cannebrannen Lies continue to fall out of your mouth so easily. I’m just so relieved you’re finally being called out. Do not say you and the owners love those horses.. that would be the biggest LIE of all. As the world can see you and the industry are only making their lives worse! Enough!!!
@cannebrannen Here’s an unaltered, unedited photo provided to the Post. Ears up, good turn of foot, not struggling. Witness notes she noticed Ryder because he didn’t look like any of the other carriage horses (who are in good weight and don’t have EPM).
So incredibly hard to watch this but we need to and share it because it won’t end unless we all call your city council members and the mayor. They no longer even try to hide the abuse, it’s just out in the open. Please don’t look away..
🚨There is ample evidence of criminal animal abuse of Ryder by Ian McKeever - longtime owner of several horses/carriages in NYC. @manhattanda is investigating.
@TWULocal100 and @TwuSamuelsen profits from this abuse and has NOT suspended Ian or placed Ryder in a sanctuary yet.
💔Gut-wrenching speech from witness who saw collapsed horse Ryder struggling to walk in the park, being hit & forced to keep giving rides by Ian McKeever FOUR HOURS before he collapsed in Midtown traffic.
We rallied at @ManhattanDA to call for criminal abuse charges. @NYPDPaws
@TWULocal100 If he was sick then why did #ianmckeever work Ryder ALL that same day to the horror of bystanders. #IanMcKeever forced him to work until he collapsed.
THEN hit and drag him. What more do we need to see??!!! WHY does @TWULocal100 continue to protect him and this industry???
