"... And to next year's male chauvinists, I will the information that there are more than boy's sports in this school." - My mom's senior will. She fought for a girl's basketball team - the next year, it was a school sanctioned sport.
My mom's a badass.
My kid's baseball team has a new asst coach who has an encouraging comment after EVERY SINGLE play, swing, and pitch. He's my new favorite thing in baseball. Someone hire this guy as an announcer, he'll single-handedly fix our collective mental health.
In the last few days, it's been made perfectly clear to me lot of guys have no idea that a lot of women experience behavior in romantic/sexual relationships which wouldn't hold up in a court of law but is still grounds for "never be within 150 feet of this guy ever again."
Women discuss this behavior amongst ourselves, and maybe with our husbands behind closed doors, but I wonder if it does well-meaning men a disservice by never discussing it publicly since aside from actual abuse and violence, these gray area experiences color every aspect of gender discourse on and offline, and men don't even seem to be aware of it.
Things most Americans agree on:
Groceries cost too much.
Tariffs suck and make no sense.
Congress and Presidents shouldn’t trade stocks.
The debt is a mess.
The border should be secure, but legal immigration is good.
Endless wars are stupid, especially ones that nobody wants and have never been explained.
Americans are exhausted.
AI is like my new best friend that also might be trying to take my job, my ability to think for myself, and my humanity in the process. Yo like I love you, but WTF, but I still love you.
Diversity is actually awesome! The opposite is boring AF.
Canadians are super fucking cool.
Mexicans are chill.
Putin isn’t a good guy looking out for America’s best interest. Rocky IV and Miracle are great movies.
Good neighbors are a blessing.
Freedom of religion and coexistence without having to blow each other up is probably a good idea.
We all question, are we alone in the universe?
We all fuck up along the way.
Epstein didn’t hang himself.
The Trumps and Epstein were best friends for decades. It’s like Bert trying to tell us Ernie was just an acquaintance in the same social scene on Sesame Street back in the day.
The Cowboys suck. Go Birds!
Things we’re told to fight about:
Me.
Laptop.
Vaccines.
Transgenders in sports.
Pronouns.
That’s the joke.
@emilykmay Reason 2: Do you WANT the opinions of people who have opinions on napkins-vs-flatware? Do you WANT to give time to people who give a shit re: candle color matching precision?
Taylor is right. Your energy & thoughtfulness are expensive; luxury items. Not everyone gets an opinion.
@emilykmay Love. It does not matter. I promise.
Reason 1: Every wedding is remembered for one thing, maybe two, and **you don't get to pick what it is.** Mine: Flower girl running backwards + 103* heat. Cousin: Game if Thrones wedding vows. Friend: Surprise football-themed sermon.
@AaronJRolen@RobertFreundLaw I genuinely do sympathize with aromasensitivity.. But damn Marriott's various aromatherapies are phenomenal. I carry the white tea lotion in my purse. Can't sleep? I keep a *stash* of Westin lavender sleep balm. My office has smelled of a Ritz spa diffuser (long story) for years.
@paulg Here I'm 26, working on my Masters + full time career.
You're getting a lot of hate, but I *know* that picture.
Congratulations to you both on the love, determination, fulfillment, investment, sacrifice, and self-recognition it actually captures ❤️ It's beautiful.
@realEstateTrent A couple years ago, 4 generation trip: My daughter & I got upgraded, then secretly swapped boarding passes with my mom and Grandma.
Their first time in first class! It was a VERY short flight, but their delight stuck around the whole trip 😊
@drgurner This... cuts. Very sincerely: How do people know what they want? How do you develop expectations that could be disappointed to begin with?
The choices are limitless... paralyzing. Wanting feels selfish. And what if it's not noble enough? Now I've wasted resources and potential.
@thedankoe Very sincerely: How do people know what they want?
The choices are limitless. I find it paralyzing; saying Yes to anything means saying No to others. + Guilt for considering what *I* want. + What if it's not noble enough, now I've wasted resources and potential.
