The IDF’s decision not to pursue a criminal investigation into the killing of seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers, including Jacob Flickinger, a Canadian citizen, is unacceptable.
Serious failures were identified in the conduct of the strike, and closing the case without further accountability leaves their families without the answers they have sought for more than two years.
Humanitarian workers delivering food and other life-saving assistance in conflict zones must be protected. Canada expects international humanitarian law to be upheld and will continue pressing for a full accounting of what happened, along with justice for the seven workers who were killed and their families.
Canada condemns the ongoing violence in the West Bank. The expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank must stop. These settlements are illegal under international law & undermine prospects for peace, security and stability.
"Khalil was trapped alive under rubble for hours, having made a phone call to her family and the Lebanese military for help, Qudah told CNN on Thursday.
'The Red Cross was blocked for seven hours and when they reached her after seven hours, she was already dead,” she said. 'This kind of obstruction of rescue efforts may really amount to war crime.'"
Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was found dead after hours of searching under rubble. She was killed in an Israeli strike, after the Israeli army fired at ambulances trying to reach her, delaying her rescue.
She is the fourth journalist killed by Israel while in the field since 2 March.
She was a professional, kind and dedicated journalist, and always a pleasure to run into in the field.
On two occasions today, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers rammed UNIFIL vehicles with a Merkava tank, in one case causing significant damage. The soldiers had blocked a road in Bayada that is used to access UNIFIL positions.
🌹🇨🇦🇨🇦🌹 Fellow Canadian @AliFeizi’s firsthand account from multiple independent trips to Xinjiang is powerful and overdue.
As someone who has long advocated for evidence-based Canada-China engagement, I’m struck by his clear-eyed observations: a region where Uyghur culture is actively preserved — from the restored Old City of Kashgar to thriving bazaars and vibrant traditions — not erased. The so-called “concentration camps” he saw are vocational training centres helping people build skills.
Ottawa’s rhetoric must match reality. Accusations this serious demand proof, not politics.
Strong, pragmatic Canada-China ties also deliver real benefits for Canadian livelihoods: restored market access for our farmers (canola, peas, seafood, beef) supports thousands of jobs and family incomes across the Prairies and beyond; affordable Chinese EVs and supply chain investments help build a stronger Canadian auto sector and lower costs for families; while diversified trade with China’s massive market drives economic growth, stability, and new opportunities from coast to coast.
Canadians deserve foreign policy grounded in facts, dialogue, and mutual respect that puts our prosperity first.
Thank you, Pastor Feizi, for speaking truth from the ground.

Just yesterday the Netanyahu govt adopted a law to hang Palestinians who commit certain crimes in the West Bank but not Israeli settlers who commit the same crimes.
Why are we sending a blank check of billions of $ to a govt that pursues these & other blatantly racist policies?

Canada joins its partners in expressing concern about the death penalty law passed by the Israeli Knesset that, in practice, systematically targets Palestinians.
