And a tremendous job by Bill Raftery and Grant Hill to LAY OUT (remain silent) and let Ian Eagle make the call. Not easy in such a stunning moment. This is why they are elite analysts.
After starting the year with 2 top 10s to qualify for the Arnold Palmer and The Players, Joel Dahmen missed both those cuts and had to get an Uber to Monday Qualifying for the Valspar.
He missed at qualifying, but got in the field anyway as an alternate and now has shot rounds of 72 and 70 to make the cut.
After the round, he spoke about how grounding life on the PGA Tour can sometimes be:
“Look, life on the PGA Tour is amazing. Wouldn't trade it for anything but also people probably don't see behind the scenes as much and so I got the family on the road, which is great, but it also can be difficult when you drive across the state on Sunday, get into a new place, you have to unpack, get them all ready, got to get groceries in the house, all those little things, thankfully my wife does most of that.
“But then I had a 9:30 tee time and it was about an hour away and we didn't have another car. So I didn't have time to grab another one. So it was just Uber was the best option and yeah, so it's a lot different from, you know, the steak and wine and The Players clubhouse and an amazing week to driving to Brooksville to Monday.
“And I hadn't had to do that in a while, thankfully, but the game humbles you quickly but also can recenter you and ground you and, yeah, I mean I didn't play well there on Monday either, but you knew I had a good chance of getting in the field and so it was nice little reset to hit some striped range balls on not a perfect golf course and realize how lucky we are to be out here on tour.”
He’s currently 65th on the FedEx Cup Standings and will be hoping to go low this weekend and improve on that.
Spring training starts, and Rockies 1B Kris Bryant goes on the 60-day IL where he'll be out for at least the first 57 games of the season. Bryant, who played only 11 games last season, has played in 170 games in the first four years of his 7-year, $182 million contract.
We are going to see soon that 1000s of players made mistakes. Coach nails it. Stop worrying about a check. Start enjoying life. Most of those in the portal just made their college experience more expensive and many just ended theirs.
🚨🚨ONE HELL OF A STORY🚨🚨
#Cowboys superstar kicker Brandon Aubrey was drafted in the 1st round of the MLS draft, but he struggled and decided to stop playing soccer and use his software engineering degree.
While watching the #NFL with his wife, they witnessed a kicker miss, and Aubrey’s wife said Brandon could make that kick.
Brandon then began learning how to kick field goals and started working as an engineer during the day and practicing at night for multiple years.
After a tryout, a USFL team gave him their starting kicker job. He became a national headline for his massive leg and signed with the Cowboys.
Brandon Aubrey is the best kickers in the league, kicked a game tying 64-yard field today to send the game to overtime.
One of the best stories in sports.
In the early 80s, Rickey Henderson was called by the A’s accounting department because they determined he didn’t cash his $1 million for nearly a year.
Here’s what happened, as he told “Mike & Mike” in 2009.
