Our mixed methods process evaluation showed a high level of acceptability for parent telephone and web-based healthy eating and active living interventions. Although the web-based intervention was preferred, fidelity was lower and dropout higher than the telephone intervention.

Parents preferred online over telephone, but engaged more with telephone support. The significant result for improvements in child non-core food intake favoured the telephone intervention. This is a challenge for policymakers in determining the optimal population-level approach.
