Today's announcement on LNG Phase II is long-delayed good news. But this project got its permit a decade ago, because of the Harper government. Bad Liberal policies delayed its construction, which has still not begun.

Over the same period, the U.S. built, not announced but built, 9 LNG terminals. Germany built an LNG import terminal in 194 days.

Instead of taking credit for work done by others long ago, Carney should explain why it took him so long to do so little.

well sometimes you get what you ask for...Carney used the specific line that Canada’s “old relationship” with the United States “is over” . He repeated close variations of that idea in later remarks, including “We’re not going back to the old relationship” after talks collapsed in August 2026 and broader statements such as “the old order is not coming back” at Davos.
