To be clear, the post in question circulated very widely in Finchley and the wider community. I was sent it by loads of people. It was also shared online by London Antifascist Assembly.

In addition, there was a WhatsApp *group* called Finchley Against Fascism that contained similar antisemitic messages while promoting the counter-protest. Hence "groups".

It was incredibly divisive and soured what should have been a genuine cross-communal protest against racism and fascism. Maybe that is what Owen Jones should be condemning, instead of hectoring in his usual style.

The problem with these riots is being framed entirely wrongly. This is just the stupid end point of identity politics where everyone is put in a box and a hierarchy is assigned based on the assumed privilege of each particular box.

It’s bollocks.

How about this: stop with the social identity shite and just classify everyone as either “a twat” or “not a twat” with a classification predicated entirely on behaviour rather than identity.

Then the police can just get on with arresting all the twats and those of us who are not twats can get on with our lives.

No wonder there are emphasised divisions in society and it’s getting worse, when those divisions have been written into law and form the basis of innumerable political, judicial and legislative decisions.
