Coming from engineering grad school, I assumed all of law had been logically worked out by the 1990s. So I was looking for the formulas to get to the right answer, and the professor walking away just made me think to myself, "I guess we're supposed to come up with the formulas that get to the right answer on our own." It would have really helped me to have been told early on that this was the wrong way to think things, but so it goes.
