@unity Hey @unity I'd love to know if the the first million of revenue a game makes is free from rev share according to the new pricing model, or will it actually be the entire revenue you're taking from then? Feel like everything over is more fair
@unity So lets say I'm over 1million engagement and earned 1million and one dollar this year, is the rev share then calculated on the entire 1million and one dollar or just the single dollar?
@unity please clarify this for me: "Both of these numbers are self-reported from data you already have available." Does this mean I have to report my numbers my self or does unity make these numbers available to me some where?
@unity This is definitely better, but how about the plus subscribers that earns more than 100k a year but less than 200k, seems like these will be forced to either pay for unity pro or move to the now TOS, any plans on keeping the plus tier for these customers?
@CohhCarnage@unity I will be carefully optimistic, but this is the 3. Time they're doing this kind of shit so I'd definitely be careful using it and potentially use other engines if I feel like I have a mega hit i the works. Let's see Hvor and what they say tho...
@UnityCodeMonkey Actually completely agree on these points. If install fees would be introduced i was ready to abandon ship, mostly due to how the tech is based on blackbox tech but also due to how anti consumer it feels.
I think unity should keep the plus plan for indies tho.
@MichaelGGarry1 @UnityCodeMonkey The previous model could also lead to fraud from unity's side and would also take out lot of resources for support and reporting of wrongful numbers on both the studios and unity them self.
Here is some alternative @unity could do instead such that they can earn a little extra:
1. Better services and make some of the paid or rev shared
2. Keep your plus plan for indies
3. Consider a much simpler percentage based royalty for games earning over say 1 million a year
Really happy to hear @unity going back on this horrendous new install fee garbage, but will this restore the faith in the engine and unity technologies? I think people will be much more careful picking unity for their projects which have potential for success! #IndieGameDev
We have heard you. We apologize for the confusion and angst the runtime fee policy we announced on Tuesday caused. We are listening, talking to our team members, community, customers, and partners, and will be making changes to the policy. We will share an update in a couple of days. Thank you for your honest and critical feedback.
With this said, if @unity want to restore the little faith left we definitely need the following promises to be kept:
1. Don't ever change the tos/royalties retroactively
2. Don't make payment models that need a damn spreadsheet
3. Don't use blackbox tech that collect user data

@unity That is the smartest thing you've said all week! But I honestly would think your reputation is still in shambles and it'll take time to restore, these policy changes should NEVER even had been brought up in the first place!
@TeffDotTech How is it fake news when all rioting is litterally against 4 things:
1. Changing tos and pricing retroactively
2. Install counts is life time and with magic Blackbox tech
3. Track and send data which may be in direct violation with gdpr
4. More work for Devs tracking fraud
@KineticGame@unity It is fair to keep developing phasmo with unity, it's been a fun and enjoyable game but as a developer my self I would had loved to see you somehow boycott unity but I fully respect that the community and players comes first.
@GiantEagle20 Did you fall on your head as a child? How about Salaries, publisher fees, platform fees, licensing (also others than unity), rent, equipment, electricity, the normal at least 6 month dev cycle with ZERO income? Yeah... Hot it be tho
