To be reductive, the genres of Netroots Nation panels are:
1) “When the candidate at the top of the ticket sucked, it made our jobs a lot harder.”
2) “Here’s why funders should give more money to *MY* project/constituency.”
3) “You should all buy our cool new tool/services!”
@JeremiahDJohns Earlier the better. More time to evaluate and plan budgets. The single most important and effective form of voter contact that can be done is field, but to be done well it needs to be hella scaled locally- and that takes time and a lot of money
"Why are the standards for being on love island higher than running for office? Cuz you can be in Congress and be racist, but you can't be in the villa and be racist."-my GF
In 2016, Debbie Wasserman Schultz earned a nickname she has never lived down: “Debt Trap Debbie.” This is the ad that ran in her own South Florida district for siding with predatory payday lenders. Every FL-20 voter should see it.
@Annie_Wu_22 Annie, a mentor of mine once told me that if people aren’t coming for you, you aren’t doing big enough things.
You are truly one of the GOATs of dem organic digital. I point to your work as an example of excellence all the time. Don’t let it get to you- we need yah.
@MappingFL Yes- agreed 100% the t-shirts showing up at the offices 3 weeks after Election Day story is infamous.
But we can separate the rough campaign/nominee from the policy & theme of the campaign that clearly resonated with black families (based on turnout)
I’ve been saying this for years- the doom of the Democratic Party is we just do not foster an environment where smart competent people want to work. So we end up with stuff like this.
My main takeaway from the autopsy is that it's a huge problem that anyone who would write anything like this was/is employed in any sort of position by the DNC
@OrganizerMemes Well I mean you get what you pay for.
Bro really should have just released it and gone “look this is useless” and everyone would have gone “yeah ok”
