This month, we proudly recognized employees celebrating their July Federal Service Anniversaries at the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center.
Together, these dedicated team members represent an incredible 410 years of federal service, reflecting their unwavering commitment to serving Veterans and one another.
As part of the celebration, each honoree was invited to share their "why," the purpose that inspires them to serve. Their reflections reminded us that behind every role is someone driven by compassion, dedication and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who served our nation.
Thank you to our July honorees for your years of service, your professionalism and the positive impact you make every day. Your dedication strengthens our mission and helps ensure Veterans receive the exceptional care and service they have earned.
Congratulations on this remarkable milestone, and thank you for your continued service to Veterans and our nation.
For many Veterans and service members living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), healing doesn’t happen all at once. It comes in moments — a conversation, a coping tool, a breakthrough, or sometimes, a song. 🎶

The spirit of Freedom 250 was alive throughout the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, including a special celebration for the Veterans who call our Community Living Center home.
Our Community Living Center staff hosted a festive Freedom 250 event designed especially for our Residents, bringing the excitement of America's 250th anniversary and the upcoming Fourth of July holiday directly to them. Veterans enjoyed patriotic activities, fellowship and a special Freedom 250-themed meal prepared by our outstanding Nutrition and Food Service team.
This celebration was made possible through the dedication of our Community Living Center staff, who worked together to create a meaningful experience that honored our residents and recognized their service to our nation.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special!
Happy Independence Day and Happy 250th Birthday, America!

Yesterday, we proudly welcomed Veterans and their families to the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center for our Freedom 250 Veterans Engagement Day.
As part of America's 250th anniversary celebration, nearly 200 Veterans connected one-on-one with VA staff to learn more about the health care, benefits and services they've earned.
Representatives from Whole Health, Women Veterans Health, Travel Reimbursement, Patient Experience and other key service areas were available throughout the day to answer questions, provide guidance and help Veterans better navigate their VA experience. We were also grateful to partner with the Veterans Benefits Administration and the Vet Center, whose teams provided valuable information and assistance to Veterans throughout the event.
A special thank you to Magnolia Federal Credit Union for its generous donation of our commemorative Freedom 250 sugar cookies.
Thank you to every Veteran who attended and to our dedicated employees and partners who made this event possible!
Traveling this summer? Double-check your appointments before you go.
Cancel early if you can’t make it — it’s quick and helps another Veteran.
