The ghosts that appear in my work have been with me for 20 years now. Here's a cut paper/ photocopy collage I created back in 2006 when I was in my first year of studying illustration.
The process of “The Return”.
It stated as a sketchbook drawing, which I then refined into a large pencil drawing.
I inked over the pencils using a lightbox, and then scanned the inks to colour the image digitally.
Here's my card for the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair Garfield collaboration for the MTG Secret Lair CATS ARE THE BEST superdrop!
It feels pretty surreal to make official Garfield art!
Various illustrations I created for Lost in Cult: A Handheld History 88-95, illustrating a variety of essays paying tribute to retro handheld gaming. 1/2
@VGArtAndTidbits@ZaxBit@CoolBoxArt I still find it odd to this day that you deleted the original post.
Was it because you didn’t like the my silly image being attached to it?

@AstridEquis@jabberworks I've scanned the pencils just to show as an example. I do digitally ink, mostly for clients, but in this case I just scanned the inks and coloured them.
So my process is:
-Work on pencils
-Lightbox pencils and ink
-Scan the inks
-Digitally colour inks
I've been going through my archive looking for sketches and preliminary drawings for a project, and I wanted to share how I build up my images. I realise it's something not everyone sees all the time.
Pencils, inks, digital colour.
At the time a lot was going wrong in my life and I disassociated from it all for a long time.
I had some cognitive behavioural therapy that really helped. I felt paralysed, but it helped me to start drawing again and gain control. I made these images to cope with grief.
It marks 10 years since I started making these giant drawings.
I remember starting them in a slump and they ended up becoming the thing I was most known for.
I hit a block but allowed myself as much time as I needed, making these images purely for myself.
