Is the shift to digital health leaving our most vulnerable veterans behind?
This question underpins new research my colleague Austin Lampros and I recently published in Public Health Reports.
In this study, we examined national survey data to better understand trends in technology access among veterans who have experienced homelessness. While we found modest increases in smartphone ownership, computer access, and internet use, important gaps remain. A substantial proportion of homeless-experienced veterans still do not own smartphones or computers or use the internet at all.
Our findings highlight the importance of continued efforts to ensure that vulnerable populations are not left behind as services become more technology driven.

@johnarnold Yes! Except in academia where I don’t hear about it enough. And that matters to the extent academic research influences policy and government funding.
We have amazing students in San Antonio! Asha Collier, an MPH student, presented a poster at the UTMB 2023 Global Health Symposium in Galveston, Texas in October. She collaborated with Jack Tsai, PhD @jacktsai, Laura McKieran, DrPH @iheartdata and @SAmetroheath. Way to go, Asha!
