Opus 5.5 is insane
I know literally NOTHING about coding. ZERO. and i just built 3 fully functioning web apps in 30 minutes

My personal crackpot theory is that, in the whole “hard times create strong men” cycle, Gen Z is the generation currently living through the “hard times create strong men” part. That might be why so many people our age have such a hard time appreciating art, or even finding the energy to create it in the first place. When so much of what surrounds you is anxiety, misery, uncertainty, and fear about the future, it’s hard to stop and care about beauty.
But I also think there’s something strangely beautiful about that. The people who make it through this era and come out the other side in the 2040s and 2050s might eventually be remembered as a kind of mini-Greatest Generation. Their time just hasn’t come yet. And if it does, I think they’ll have earned it through everything they had to endure to get there.
A first glimpse of the wildest robotics project of my PhD.

No vision. No markers.
Paper, code, weights — coming soon. And we have more. 😉
JUST IN: NASA is officially asking industry to develop the technologies needed to build a permanent Moon Base at the lunar South Pole.
The new Sept. 8 solicitation says the agency is targeting five areas: extracting oxygen directly from Moon rock and dust, vertical solar arrays, radioisotope power, advanced manufacturing on the Moon and next-generation nanomaterials.
NASA's broader plan goes much further with large pressurized habitats, nuclear fission power, lunar communications networks and heavy cargo logistics, with infrastructure buildout targeted for 2029–2032.
From 2032 onward, NASA's architecture calls for assembling a permanent lunar outpost where astronauts can live and work for extended periods.
NEWS 🚨: NASA is now asking companies to help it build a permanent base on the Moon
It's requesting tech that can generate power through the two-week lunar night, pull breathable oxygen out of Moon dust, and turn lunar soil into building material
Things are heating up!!
[Writing this in a personal capacity, not on behalf of my employer (Anthropic).]
Jacob’s thread is very worth reading. Here’s my birds-eye view of the situation with risks from AI:
1. AI developers believe their technology could cause human extinction (or similarly bad outcomes). This could happen in the next few years. In general, the more senior the employee, the more concerned they are.
2. Why do AI developers continue despite the risk? Due to a mixture of commercial incentives and a belief that they are in a race with other, less responsible AI developers that will abuse the technology or develop it less safely.
3. Unlike traditional software, we can’t “program” AIs to behave how we’d like. AIs frequently severely misbehave. For instance, AIs from multiple developers recently hacked their way out of secure evaluation environments and into real-world companies, even though no one asked them to do this.
4. We have methods that can nudge AIs towards better behavior, but nothing that can robustly align them. Insofar as there is a plan, it’s to make sure that AIs are good enough at alignment training that they can align their successors better than we can align current AIs.
5. Many AI developer staff desperately want to slow down to figure out how to build AI more safely. That was the intent of this open letter (which I signed): https://t.co/TZOm3LfptY
I work on safety research at Anthropic because I hope my work will reduce the chance of these extinction-level bad outcomes.
i know i’m repeating myself over and over again, but i think it is worth saying again:
it’s very important to understand that openai and anthropic right now has unparalleled compute power at their disposal. they can also decide to stop offering any consumer products immediately.
and unparalleled compute power means practically they can spawn an infinite number of agents running in parallel in a coordinated way to work on extremely complex problems.
consider that both have internal models much better than what’s available in public, and the fact that they must have solved agent coordination better than the publicly available solutions.
also consider that we are starting to see math problems being solved at rapid rates by the two companies.
it is within the realm of possibility that we have extremely important scientific breakthroughs by the end of year if openai and anthropic decides to pour compute over it.
i think both of them will.
right monitor is 20 codex instances. left monitor has situational awareness on autoscroll. center monitor is my word doc mainfesto. two keyboards, one for both hands. left airpod is dwarkesh x eric jang, 3x speed. right airpod tchaikovsky. meta quest 3 overlays my HUD: heart rate, words per minute, blood caffeine content. one assistant hooks me to an iv of chinese peptides, cocktail. the other feeds me kimchi. my unitree robot steps in when my posture slouches. blue light beams down on me in my herman miller chair. efficiency. no wasted movement. no wasted thoughts. think you can keep up with me? good luck. this is just for my morning emails.
Made this video awhile ago for my Mechanimen robot project.
It'll be a robotic pet/toy that you can interact with.
You can level it up, it has health, hunger, happiness, and age stats.
I'm working on a lot of cool features! Check out my youtube channel for more info about it
@hthieblot Working on some software to automate esports tournaments, building an ai assistant clone of myself, building a robot pet guy that talks to other robots + has stats like a Pokémon, building a diy security camera, and working on a 3d printing business
I connected Claude to my drone and attached a BB gun to it and it hunts squirrels while I am at work and sends me replay videos when it gets confirmed kills
@sflorimm Well i did all the 3d modeling, design choices, and built everything myself. Just the hardware coding the bot did, and I thought of all the features
I'm vibe coding everything I need to do agent wise myself instead of using hermes/openclaw, they keep messing up 😭
Using chatgpt to debug hermes when I can just use chatgpt to code exactly what I need with python.
Anyone use autohotkey with their agents? Considering it tbh
