@tito_mboweni We argue we need to keep it because transport in general has many positive externalities. The issue is SAA as a unit does not seem to produce these. Hence it justifies no further taxpayer support. We have urgent issues to deal with in SA. Like infrastructure, poverty and housing.
Waste is waste. When it lands in the oceans, and it often does, it will find its way back to those that produced it. Eventually. Slowly. We just all suffer the consequences as the plastic slowly returns in places like tuna cans. Bon appetit to our US friends 🥳.
After China and other Asian countries tightened rules on waste dumping in 2018, plastic exports to Africa quadrupled in 2019. We still have no comprehensive policy!

If I read the headline "Phone cameras track your facial expression as you read to determine how you feel and learn from this for use in marketing". I would not be surprised.
Whether this is ethical I am not sure. Law can't keep up.

@waggers5 I asked if it was accurate and whether the story was complete first. Because only if it is, then it becomes possible to conclude that this is bad.
Maybe you could clarify your thinking?
@BarristerSecret @nomsa_jane But how often does this system fail? If it is rare and there are many appeals mechanisms - whats the issue? Why is this bad?
@BarristerSecret @nomsa_jane What are the oversight mechanisms. Does this system have an unacceptable level of successful appeals? What types of crimes ca be heard here?
Petty bar fights with video and witness evidence could potentially pass through such a system.
