@Amirmizroch@derJamesJackson Lets fix this weird phrasing. Not all Israelis, Jews, Muslims or Palestineans are extremist religious fanatics. Every group has crazy people in it, thats how humans are.
Hello everyone, since I haven't been very active on Twitter I figured I would post a link to my last article for the ICRC Law and Policy blog.
"Codifying IHL before Lieber and Dunant: The 1820 treaty for the regularization of war"

and civilians affected by armed conflict and occupation across a broader spectrum than any previous international agreements. However, despite the signicance of such a development in international law, the treaty fell into relative obscurity after the Colombian War of ->
Abstract: Before the Lieber Code and Geneva Conventions came a treaty between the Spanish Empire and Simon Bolivar’s revolutionary forces in Colombia and Venezuela. The 1820 Treaty for the Regularization of War aimed at reducing the unnecessary suffering of both soldiers ->
@artmaltman@AssalRad 1. She wasn't fired, her contract expired and wasn't renewed which isn't unheard of. 2. Almost every genocide and war crimes case has resulted in new precedents in IHL and ICL. Particularly in the case of the ICTY. Again, this isn't controversial.
@ShumBaloo@declassifiedUK Almost every international organisation disagrees with you on that but ok. Does Israel's location of military bases and headquarters in civilian neighborhoods also qualify as using human shields? Because the IDF and Mossad headquarters are in civilian areas.
@NewThinking2@arobin0888@owenjonesjourno As the other commentor mentioned, Genocide does not require a precentage or numerical threshold to be reached. The primary determining factor is intent, and making an entire population refugee's and destroying all civilian infrastructure can reflect intent
@A_P0W3LL@diegomayra@RealCynicalFox Ah yes because standing in front of a map highlighting Turkish territorial claims to position himself as a strongman makes him Hitler 2.0. You realize that this photo is from 2019 and Greek/Turkish relations have improved significantly right?
@ShumBaloo@declassifiedUK Customary IHL (LOAC)
Rule 53. "The use of starvation of the civilian population as a method of warfare is prohibited."
Rule 55. "The parties to the conflict must allow and facilitate rapid and unimpeded passage of humanitarian relief for civilians in need"
@comradesquirrel@Jerrylewiscj@wesbarton@ohtazer @thefungaltoe And awesome credentials, too bad none of them are really credentials. I've worked on cars since I was a kid, welded steel patch panels into car bodies, my brother in law is a professional mechanic etc... I didn't bring any of that up because it's irrelevant to the argument.
@comradesquirrel@wesbarton@ohtazer @thefungaltoe You didn't respond to his claim asking for his burden of proof. You instead claimed he was exaggerating without providing evidence to prove your claim. There is a difference between the two.
@comradesquirrel@wesbarton@ohtazer @thefungaltoe Also your initial reply to the op's claim was itself another claim. Meaning you both now have a burden of proof. And neither of you included evidence to back up your claims. If I owe a citation for my claim, so do you.
@comradesquirrel@wesbarton@ohtazer @thefungaltoe You literally proved why Im not the one who has to show burden of proof after asking me to show burden of proof lol. But yes, I'm wrong. You win.
@comradesquirrel@wesbarton@ohtazer @thefungaltoe I was making fun of how you used the burden of proof claim on me after making multiple claims without providing any burden of proof. But I guess you took it a little seriously. Anyway, have a nice day.
@comradesquirrel@wesbarton@ohtazer @thefungaltoe Actually you made multiple uncited claims on this thread before talking to me. Yet the burden of proof lies solely on me? That's not how this works. Your initial claim insinuated that aluminum isnt hard or expensive to work with. The burden of proof lies on you to prove that.
