Pharmacists have a huge role to play when it comes to attaining universal healthcare. Parliament should not pass the health bill amendments as this would compromise UHC @SakajaJohnson@PSofKenya@DrMercyKorir @mwachondahuey @ppbkenya
OPINION: In Kenya, most people view pharmacists as the person behind the counter who reads a prescription and dispenses medicine. The role of pharmacists in pharmacy is no longer confined to dispensing medicines but has developed towards patient treatment management, with larger roles as medical counsellors, educators, and advocates.

I have trained Pharmacists from B.Pharm to M.Pharm to PhD. I see what a BPharm graduate can do, what an MPharm graduate can do, what a PhD graduate is capable of.
I have been involved in CMEs teaching pharm techs. And I appreciate what they can do. Before I joined
There is a quiet grief many Pharmacists carry, one that rarely makes it into Policy documents, workforce reports, or strategic plans. It is the grief of unrealized potential.
In Kenya, the Pharmacy curriculum is rigorous, demanding, and very intense by design. Years are spent mastering Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Law and Ethics, and Patient safety. From the first lecture to the final clinical sign-off, students are pushed into survival mode. Pass the exam. Complete the rotation. Don’t fail. Don’t fall behind. Don’t question too much. The system rewards endurance, not imagination.
