Today, I want to salute the more than 67,000 missionaries serving around the world, most being young men and young women. It is absolutely a miracle and a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ that so many young people will put their trust in Him for two years or 18 months. Each week, we, as members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, have the privilege of reviewing the recommendations for prospective missionaries and praying for inspiration in assigning them to serve in locations across the world. This time of the year, more than 1,000 applications come in each week from countries throughout the world.

On a personal level, we in the Twelve have grandchildren who serve as well. Here is a brief video of a conversation I had a couple of Sundays ago with my grandson Jason Ebert, who has been called to the Italy Milan Mission. I’m proud of him, as every good parent or grandparent should be proud of their child or grandchild who is willing to unselfishly serve our Savior Jesus Christ.

Enjoy this video as an example of all the amazing young men and young women serving throughout the world—and consider a good deed you are able to do for a missionary you know.
