@The_Wheelsucker@Dr_CoconutzDPT@HerdZone@marshallu@MarshalluPres What are you talking about? Of course the ones who want to continue to swim are going to enter the portal. The ones that want to remain their academically can choose to do so and they said they’ll honor the scholarship.
@JKEwilson@HerdZone@marshallu I’m not thrilled that they had to cut swimming and diving either but the spending isn’t even going to be close to the same. Did you read the statement? It’s a shitty situation. only one sport profits at Marshall most of the others at least get some sort of revenue but at a loss
Another post in addition to my thoughts this morning, because I know you are all just dying to hear it!!!
•Shutting down a sports program and the University you love, sucks, but it sucks more for the players, families, coaches, and all administration that had to make the decision and communicate it out.
•We all pretty much assume it has to do with money.
•Many think it is because more money is going to other sports, and the program is just reducing female sports at the expense of violating Title IX rules.
In reality, and some of these comments are going to come with replies such as “kool aid drinker, super fan, Company line walking, never say anything bad about Marshall, loves telling people what to do and where to donate annoying fan.)
•What have you done to raise money for the athletic program, or the sport in question.
•This is a College Athletic Department, led by some brilliant folks, supported and backed up by even more brilliant folks, everything was done with all rules in mind, especially Title IX. I know I am just assuming this, but come on, we know these people are doing things the right way.
•The people in position of leadership at Marshall know what they are doing. The have been successful literally everywhere they have been. We have to give them the benefit of the doubt. If we are getting rid of one thing because of money. That would mean we would need something else, right?, which that would probably mean………….
•If the above is the case, then they probably already have some type of plan in place that is going to help our athletic department, and university, as a whole. Will it be something that could be put in place quick, smarter financially, and with infrastructure already in place…..While we have no clue what they ARE doing, there no way they are going to cut a sport without having to add something
You can make your own decision. You can get annoyed me by my Big Green thumping presence, but that’s ok. None of us like losing Thundering Herd Student athletes so lets try do more about it this year!!!
GO HERD FOREVER!!!!!
