If we start using our votes and our clicks to say we’re done with political theatre, and we’re ready for political action, maybe we’ll start seeing incremental progress on the issues we care about on both sides of the aisle.
You know really what gets to me? Political polarization has a real, life-and-death cost because it makes passing good policy difficult or impossible. We complain about it, but we also reward it. We have to reward civil discourse and compromise instead.
