Why is extremism breaking out on every topic at once? Bret Weinstein shares a model for looking at the strange rise of fanaticism.

BRET: "So the centerpiece of the model is the idea that there is a filtering process, an evolutionary filtering process, that causes beliefs to become extreme — beliefs that may not start out especially extreme.

And I'm borrowing here a little bit from an idea that was initially put out by Eliezer Yudkowsky years ago as part of the sort of rationalist dialogue, in which he used the example of a cult.

And in this cult, there's a prediction of the end of the world, particular hour of a particular day. The hour arrives. The world does not end. What happens next?

Well, you had a spectrum inside the cult, of people who were just absolutely unshakable in their belief all the way to people who were like, 'Yeah, this seems right, but I don't know. I've got doubts, maybe I don't share.'

Well, the doubters will tend to leave in such a circumstance. And what that does is it concentrates within the cult. It concentrates the true believers."

HEATHER: "It concentrates the verificationists."

BRET: "Exactly."

HEATHER: "The falsificationists leave with each passing, one of these failures of prediction."

BRET: "Right."

HEATHER: "Oh, well then, I guess this isn't true after all."

BRET: "And so it becomes a radicalizing process that is actually the result of game theory. And Eliezer Yudkowsky analogized it to evaporative cooling, where basically in his model, you have particles of different levels of energeticness, and the more energetic ones tend to bounce out of the system, leaving the less energetic ones. So you get a physical cooling.

So that is analogous to the radicalizing of the folks who happen to inhabit some sort of an extreme position. They come to believe that something is true. Evidence arises that it isn't true. And instead of it causing them to rethink their position, it causes them to double down, and may even drive them further into that position — which is surprising to those of us who are watching it."

Josh Shapiro turned a measles controversy into another lesson in why Americans don’t trust politicians. Local officials questioned the state’s “measles-associated deaths” claim, and now Shapiro has serious explaining to do.

Fear first. Details later. Then expect everyone to shut up and believe you.

That’s not leadership. That’s political sleaze.

If you’re going to scare families, bring the receipts. Until then, Shapiro looks like a dishonest fraud exploiting fear for political gain.

Okay, I buy the story so far. Young tech wizard with a little business accumen. Fine.

But then to get all the government contracts from coast to coast? Unknowns have a hard time getting government business with the complicated procurement processes, quoting rules, and the minority business requirements required by many local governments across the nation.

Yet this guy who made 2 apps for civilian use figured all that out? Managed to navigate the non-flexible processes that are different in every jurisdiction, skipped the public bidding process legally required in most of them, all to sell a brand new service without a history of success?

And he did all that in just a couple of years without anyone noticing? With hundreds of state and local governments?

I'm having a hard time buying this.

The growth of this company and expansion into so many separate government agencies went too smoothly. Like it was coordinated at a higher level.

A company discovers its product is causing cancer, is already losing billions in lawsuits over it, and other nations won't even accept our crops because of it. The honest move is obvious. Go back to the drawing board and build something safer.

That is not what happened. Instead they ran to the government and asked to be protected from liability, telling Washington they'd pull the product entirely unless they were shielded from the lawsuits their own product created.

The World Health Organization has known this product is carcinogenic. And these corporations are so entrenched in our government agencies, our regulatory agencies, and our commerce that even knowing what we know, our own president has to be cautious about calling it out, because removing it now would devastate the farming industry. That fear is doing more to protect this chemical than any safety data ever could. It's one of the worst things sitting in our environment right now.

RFK Jr. is correct. The fact is that there are billions of fragments of human cellular debris and DNA from the cultured cell line of an aborted fetus in every injected dose of MMR, chicken pox, and Hep A vaccines.

Because viruses multiply in cells, living cells are used to grow viruses for vaccine production, including the cultured cell lines of aborted fetuses. At his press conference today, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro accused me of promoting conspiracy theories because I told him, during an earlier telephone conversation, that some Americans had religious objections to the MMR vaccine because it contained fetal tissue. “There is no fetal tissue in the MMR,” he told me.

This is a segment from a videotaped deposition of Stanley Plotkin, the inventor of the MMR vaccine. Plotkin admits to butchering 76 aborted normally developing fetuses, all over three months old, in just one of the many studies that led to the development of his vaccine.

The rubella virus used in MMR-II is grown on the cultured cell line composed of lung tissue from an aborted three-month-old female embryo and listed as “WI-38 human diploid lung fibroblasts” in the ingredients of MMR-II as portions of these cells end up in each vial of MMR II.

During Dr. Plotkin’s deposition, Attorney Aaron Siri asked: “Isn’t it true that MMR II contains approximately 150 nanograms cells substrate double-strand DNA and single-strand DNA per dose purposefully fragmented to approximately 215 base pairs in length?” Dr. Plotkin answered: “Yeah, that’s probably correct, yes.”

This equals approximately 646 billion pieces of human DNA from an aborted fetal cell line in each vial of MMR-II.

In addition to the human DNA, there is also an unspecified amount of human cellular debris in each dose of MMR-II.

During our phone conversation, Governor Shapiro also accused me of promoting vaccine misinformation. When I asked him for an example, he was unable to provide one, but this did not deter him from publicly repeating that accusation during his press event. As I told him, HHS does not tolerate misinformation by any employee. I offered to point to hundreds of instances of vaccine misinformation by the Biden administration about which I had never heard him complain.

Governor Shapiro also faulted me for the decline in Pennsylvania vaccination rates from 97% - 93.2%. When I pushed back on this assertion, he acknowledged that most of the decline occurred during the Biden administration. It’s unfortunately true that the government lockdowns, deceptions, manipulation, and overreach during Covid severely damaged public faith in the vaccine program.

Governor Shapiro’s press conference was an example of the same species of gaslighting.

The Trump administration is working to restore public trust not by gaslighting or manipulating, but by being truthful, at last, with the public.

The Governor and other state officials, along with Penn Medicine officials, announced two “measles-associated” deaths here. The underlying assertion was that the deaths were from measles. In fact it has been stated these are the first measles deaths in the U.S. in 35 years. But the County Coroner says there are zero measles deaths here. The Governor’s office will not respond to questions. And now apparently they will not respond to CDC either.

I think it is fair to ask why? If you have a press conference announcing this, you have a duty to be transparent.
