@hdwmovies and domingo is dressed like spielberg and every time we cut to him on the phone he’s standing around like a director and he’s recreating a childhood for these characters in the type of house that spielberg himself created the image of with his movies.
@SapphicCineaste warner is the party that censored it and has blocked the full release this whole time. i’m excited they’re restoring and releasing it now, but the brothers weren’t letting the art or artist stand for something back then either.
he is pro-mafia, he just thinks he’s going to hell for that. it’s what makes him interesting to me. lunch is the same in that he does believe in the conservative’s dream of america, but can’t reconcile that with the evil and ugliness he knows exists.
"David Lynch is conservative because he shows the prettiness of americana before undercutting it" is like saying Scorsese is pro-mafia because he likes to immerse viewers in the world by initially showing the allure of wealth, freedom and control. Just harebrained binary thinking
pretty terrible production and some pretty great wins. timmy losing is gonna make him do some dogshit to get one in twenty years. c’mon academy we’ve been through this
