@ConanOBrien Best X thread of 2025! My husband and I got through this year (and my stage 3 advanced ovarian cancer diagnosis) with the same dark and hilarious humour. Your parents would be delighted. How perfect to leave a legacy of love and laughter ❤️
@davidosullie “I can tell you one thing I don’t care one bit about this weekend, it’s the Bezos wedding.”
Me: “Nods sagely in agreement, while secretly watching every feed, judging the outfits and then Googling how much those guests’ outfits cost.” #fashun#marrywell 😃
Since Sept I’ve had stage 3 cancer, huge surgery, ICU, chemo, slipped a disc & learned the cancer WILL be back, hopefully only in 10 years. But what’s REALLY annoying me is I can’t do anything without taking pics to enlarge ‘coz I can’t see the fine print. WTF #age#cancer 😂🤷🏼♀️
@RediTlhabi I highly recommend gardening leave! (I highly do NOT recommend cancer leave 😂). Gardening leave is like that summer break between Matric & your next thing, when you owe nobody nothing and you do what you want to do (& pay!). But how I miss work now #mynewperspectives ❤️
Recently @davidosullie asked “Do we really need all these huge vases? So @Anele, @CindyPoluta, @ThembiMrototo and @FrankieFire said “Hold our beer”. Yesterday was my 50th birthday & 9th chemo. I got home to these. My dear friends, you are all the classiest of acts. Love you all!
One of my favourite couples! Brian and I had a marvellous afternoon with our friends, @davidosullie and @jacquiosully - we laughed and laughed and laughed! So good to be together again! The O'Sullivans are the best braai masters!
A friend of mine said the following today: “One thing that Americans cannot ever say again is that ‘This is not who we are’. American exceptionalism died today.” Geopolitics such as the Ukraine, Middle East, Israel & European peace, in tatters. Claims change, set back decades.
With great sadness I learnt of the death of my friend and @KayaFM colleague Thabiso Sikwane. Quiet and caring with a loud, easy laugh, a tireless campaigner for women’s rights with a passion for telling the story of the women of the Soweto uprising. She will be profoundly missed.
@dbbovey@andycapostagno was the MC at our wedding in 2001. He read Ogden Nash’s “I Do, I Will, I Have”. I had never heard it before and it’s spot on: “Because I believe a little incompatibility is the spice of life, particulary if he has income and she is pattable.” @davidosullie ❤️😀
Next week South Africans can start going to bed on a Sunday, like normal, just depressed from Carte Blanche. Rather than the past 5 weeks of Sunday bedtime after crying for an hour out of sheer stress, nostalgia and then joy #ChasingTheSun2
