Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
& Remember..
The RBG aka Pan African flag doesn’t relate to the Juneteenth flag. They’re two different flags with two different meanings…
The Juneteenth flag specifically celebrates the abolition of chattel slavery for enslaved people from Galveston, Texas. Which became a tradition for many Black Texans to celebrate for decades.
The RBG flag aka the Pan African flag, is meant to celebrate unity for all Black people across the world.
Both flags represent great symbols of pride & freedom, but I think it’s okay to highlight specifically the Juneteenth flag on the forefront for its actual purpose.
happy juneteenth to EVERY black musician that paved the way for every musical genre, style, technique etc. that have been used throughout history by non black people but have never been recognized as black creativity!
Mrs. Opal Lee also known as The Grandmother of Juneteenth … born 1926 in Marshall, TX.
She is the reason that Juneteenth became a federally recognized holiday.
