Great initiative to raise money for the study of the rare disorder STXBP1 encephalopathy, by the @FGA_lab.

Researchers led by @ElizarovaSofia, Sebastian Kruss (@KrussLab) & James Daniel (@jadaniel81) succeeded in measuring the release of #dopamine from #nervecells with unprecedented accuracy. 🧠🔬 Find out more in our press release!

1/4 Finally out in @PNASNews! AndromeDA is a nanosensor 'paint' that detects dopamine with high spatial and temporal resolution. Beautiful experiments by @ElizarovaSofia at @mpi_nat. A great collaboration with @KrussLab at @ruhrunibochum and Nils Brose.

4/4 With AndromeDA we show that discrete dopamine release events are not detected at most axonal varicosoties, and that dopamine release is highly heterogeneous. We also verify that Munc13 proteins are essential in release. Excited to see what more AndromeDA can do in the future!
3/4 AndromeDA detects diffusing dopamine as well as discrete dopamine release events, which appear as 'hotspots'. Hotspot detection was made possible by DART - a machine learning-based algorithm developed by Abed Choaib and Ali Shaib.
@mpi_bpc becomes @mpi_nat ❗
With the merger of our institute with the #MPIEM, our name will change to Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences. Feel free to tag us with @mpi_nat 🙂.
Excited to be presenting our new work on dopamine imaging at the Synaptic Dimension of Brain Disorders in Baeza. A great collaboration with the @KrussLab!
