Excited to share our latest research on Cu(ATSM) and its impact on P-glycoprotein expression at the blood-brain barrier 🧠 @JoeNicolazzo, @MIPS_Australia. Huge thanks to our amazing collaborators @TheFlorey, and @Bio21Institute! 🙌🔬🧪https://t.co/E09zGQZhSQ Special Issue
On the eve of World Pharmacists Day, I was honoured to receive a Fellowship of @FIP_org. This was extra special as it was awarded by the first Aussie FIP President Paul Sinclair AM. This award is shared with my PhD students, @MonashPharm and @APSA_News colleagues, and my family.
P-gp is an efflux transporter expressed at the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and plays a crucial role in preventing harmful substances from entering the brain. It also helps in the clearance of amyloid-beta (Aβ), a contributor to Alzheimer's disease (AD).

The perks of travelling with your supervisor! Or THE SUPERVISOR! 🙏🏻 Thank you @JoeNicolazzo Looking forward to the @GordonConf Barriers of the CNS! First international conference in forever! #highlight#PhDlife#AUS to #USA
It’s the first time an Australian university has been ranked number 1 in life sciences, beating the renowned University of Oxford, Harvard University and University of Cambridge. #MonashUniversity#pharmacy#pharmacology https://t.co/Qir0g2kNyk
Magnificent presentation by @jae_pyun at @APSA_News Conference: clearing the way for Alzheimer’s disease! Not sure what’s more animated…the slide or Jae!
First up we have @jae_pyun from Monash University telling us how we might be able to ‘clear’ the way for Alzheimer’s disease using copper complexes at the
blood-brain barrier. Also pointing out that science doesn't always go to plan but we still continue to learn at very step!
