BNM veranstaltet vom 24. bis 26. September eine dreitägige Kampagne in Genf: Das Erbe des Widerstands und die Freiheit der Zukunft

Die Baloch National Movement (BNM) wird vom 24. bis 26. September 2026 eine dreitägige politische und diplomatische Kampagne in Genf durchführen. Die Kampagne findet anlässlich der 63. Sitzung des UN-Menschenrechtsrats statt und steht unter dem Titel „Chairman Zubair Baloch: Ein Erbe des Widerstands“.

Die Kampagne erinnert an den ersten Todestag des BNM-Vorsitzenden Zubair Baloch. In der Nacht vom 24. September 2025 wurde laut BNM sein Wohnhaus von der pakistanischen Armee angegriffen. Dabei wurden Zubair Baloch und sein Begleiter Nisar Baloch getötet.

Am 24. September beginnt die Kampagne mit einer internationalen Konferenz im Geneva Press Club. Dabei geht es unter anderem um die Menschenrechtslage in Balochistan, das Verschwindenlassen von Menschen, außergerichtliche Tötungen, politische Einschränkungen und die Situation der politischen Bewegungen. Auch die Geschichte und die politischen Hintergründe der Baloch-Bewegung sowie die natürlichen Ressourcen und großen Projekte in Balochistan werden thematisiert.

Außerdem wird ein Dokumentarfilm über das politische Leben und den Kampf von Zubair Baloch gezeigt. Das Buch „Zubair Baloch: In His Own Words – Life, Resistance and the Baloch National Struggle“ von Zrumbesh Publications wird ebenfalls vorgestellt.

Am 25. September werden BNM-Mitglieder und Unterstützer eine öffentliche Kundgebung durchführen. Sie beginnt am Genfer See und führt zur Broken Chair am Place des Nations, gegenüber den Vereinten Nationen.

Am 25. und 26. September findet dort außerdem eine zweitägige Fotoausstellung und ein Informationsstand statt.

Während der Kampagne werden BNM-Delegationen auch Vertreter der UN-Arbeitsgruppen, Sonderberichterstatter und Menschenrechtsstellen treffen. Dabei sollen Informationen und Dokumente über die Situation in Balochistan vorgestellt und die Menschenrechtslage vor dem UN-Menschenrechtsrat thematisiert werden.

Reacting to the re-arrest of human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha just hours after they had been granted bail by the Supreme Court yesterday, Babu Ram Pant, Amnesty International’s Deputy Regional Director for South Asia, said:

"Imaan and Hadi's re-arrest dispels any pretence that the charges against them are anything other than a politically motivated attempt to punish them for their human rights work. Their case demonstrates once again the authorities’ willingness to weaponize the legal system against critical voices.

“These latest charges, brought against them for simply attending a peaceful protest, are not only absurd but an insult to their lifelong commitment to human rights.

“The Pakistani authorities must stop misusing the justice system to target Imaan and Hadi. They must be released immediately and unconditionally, with no further charges to prolong their detention. Imaan and Hadi should be free to meet their friends and family and to do the work they love – representing victims of human rights violations."

The extrajudicial killing of Ehsan Hassan, Hassan Rafiq and 20-year-old student Nadil Baloch is a brutal and devastating act. Their bodies were found together in Kuldan Gwadar after all three had disappeared earlier this year. Their families had spent months waiting, searching and hoping that their sons would return alive. Behind every dead body is a family whose life has been shattered. A mother waits for her son. A father keeps believing that his child will come home. A sister waits for the brother whose voice she has not heard for months. They live through endless uncertainty, carrying photographs, making inquiries and holding onto the hope that one day the door will open and their loved one will walk back home.

Baloch parents educate their children with their hard earned sacrifices. They spend years saving for their education, sending them to schools and universities and dreaming that their children will build a dignified and better future. They do not educate their children to receive their dead bodies. They do not sacrifice their entire lives so that one day they are forced to identify their sons in a morgue.

Nadil was only 20 years old. He was a student with an entire life ahead of him. Hassan and Ehsan also had families who waited for their return. Instead of celebrating their education, achievements and futures, their families are now mourning their deaths. This is the deepest cruelty inflicted upon Baloch people, first a loved one is taken away, then the family is condemned to months of unbearable waiting and finally the silence is broken by the arrival of a dead body. The pain does not end with the killing. It is transferred to the mother who will never hear her son’s footsteps again, the father who will carry the loss for the rest of his life and the sisters who will forever wait for a brother who can never return.

The international community cannot remain silent as Baloch people continue to face enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and the systematic destruction of civilian lives. The killing of Hassan Rafiq, Ehsan Hassan and Nadil Baloch must not disappear into another cycle of silence and impunity. The United Nations and international human rights bodies must urgently intervene, demand accountability and take concrete action to end the ongoing persecution and killings of Baloch people. Silence in the face of such grave abuses only allows impunity to continue.
