Jesus fucking christ. They made a woman appear for a criminal court arraignment even though she was 9 months pregnant and she gave birth while handcuffed to a bench *inside the courtroom*
READ: A woman was forced to give birth in Brooklyn criminal court 2 nights ago on a courtroom bench. Shackled. All while courtroom personnel gawked.
And the judge ultimately refused even to dismiss her case--trespassing on her own rooftop. This is "justice" in America. More:
Slavery in this country lasted 246 years. Jim Crow lasted around 100 years.
Our attempt to remedy the impact of those crimes against humanity was met with white terrorism & savagery.
The laws we finally got passed to address these harms were relentlessly challenged & lasted only 61 years before they were all finally stripped away.
This country has decided that the idea of race can be used to multigenerationally oppress us, but any remedy must be race neutral, which means there can be no remedy.
Never again will I vote for a presidential candidate who is unwilling to admit that America—a country that wouldn’t exist without chattel slavery—is a racist nation. That’s the beginning for me, before we even get to policies & legislation.
“We deserve more horror, esp. Black horror, & gothic works that—instead of following the lead of typical Western story conventions—celebrates Black religious traditions & cultural roots outside of Christianity. Ryan Coogler's ‘SINNERS’ one such film 🧵 https://t.co/f5XwouwZIG
NEW: A Georgia railroad owned by a descendant of an enslaver is using eminent domain to take land owned by descendants of the enslaved. If you want to understand how slavery still shapes power today, start here: https://t.co/d902VNd1vE

@MapleParadox_@vidsthatgohard This BOT was created to spread misinformation. NYC originally had the second-largest enslaved population in America after Charleston, South Carolina. It was such a major port for human trafficking that at one point, 42% of homes in NYC kept enslaved people.
Do yall realize how crazy it is to have ever needed something like this? They hunted Black people so intensively in the US that a whole system of secret hideaways had to be made
The ONLY surviving Gullah-Geechee community in Georgia just stopped developers with an 85% vote on Sapelo Island. They protected their language, culture, and ancestral land from gentrification. When Black communities unite, we win. This is power. https://t.co/oIcsc26jMn
