@aaksoy87 Q7: Both of these assignments are a good way to involve social media. I enjoyed them but felt that Live Twitter Chats were more interactive. Both assignments were a great way to get to know my classmates. #COMS3320
@aaksoy87 A6: Media often portrays coming out as a fear-filled event in someone's life. In many cases, it is a negative conversation, which leads audiences to believe this is how all queer individuals feel and experience this event. #COMS3320
@aaksoy87 A5: A good example of this is that we are starting to see tv shows and movies such as Queer Eye and Moonlight, which portray a positive image of queerness. The media is starting to portray queerness as acceptable in society with these positive representations.
@aaksoy87 A4: The portrayal of queer individuals in the media creates a negative stigma in society. The media creates what society believes to be normal, just as we see with hetereonormativity.
@aaksoy87 A3: We see heteronormativity in media such as tv shows, movies, commercials, etc. While watching tv, people are reinforced to believe this is the 'norm' as it is more often displayed versus other relationships. #COMS3320
@aaksoy87 A2: As we talked about before, media portrays heterosexism as the norm in American culture. We see male/female relationships portrayed in movies and tv shows far more often than same-sex relationships. #COMS3320
