After 3 months of surgeries, doctors appointments and over 500 stitches.....My doctor just told me that my biopsies are finally negative and they have removed all my skin cancer! Time for a glass of Champagne!
Unfortunately, we can confirm that @AdamYates7 will not start stage 3 of the @giroditalia. You can find a full medical update below ⤵️
Dr. Adrian Rotunno (Medical Director): "Unfortunately we were badly affected by the crash on stage 2 yesterday. Jay Vine suffered a concussion and an elbow fracture. Marc Soler has a pelvic fracture. At this stage, neither should require surgery.
“Adam Yates suffered a heavy abrasions and a laceration to his left ear. He was initially assessed on site for concussion, and cleared to continue, but subsequently he has shown delayed concussive symptoms. He will not take the start of stage 3 today.
“All three are under observation of our medical staff and will travel home in the coming days to continue their recovery and rehab."

Matteo broke his collarbone in his crash during the Amstel Gold Race. As a result, he will not start in the Flèche Wallonne or Liège–Bastogne–Liège.
We wish Matteo a good and speedy recovery!
Can't remember the last time I shed a tear at the end of a bike race.
I could not be more pleased for Wout van Aert. It would have been criminal if he'd ended his career without a win in a cobbled monument.
To finally achieve it today, at the end of one of the most epic, dramatic and chaotic editions of Paris Roubaix seems fitting. And to do so in front of one of the top 2 riders of all time just adds to the prestige.
Well done Wout. And Belgium: enjoy your party. Surely a national holiday has to be called tomorrow?!
