There is a beautiful story in our scriptures. When Sri Rama's time on earth was ending, He dropped His ring into a crack in the earth and asked Hanuman to bring it back. Hanuman entered the netherworld expecting one ring, but found a mountain of identical rings. Vasuki explainednto Hanuman, "In every Kalpa, in every Treta Yuga, Rama is born. One day His ring falls here, and a monkey comes searching for it." The mountain of rings was proof that this story had happened countless times before... and would happen countless times again.... A clue towards the concept of Multiverse.
Time changes everything.... Kingdoms rise and fall....Dynasties vanish..
Cities turn to dust... Even the greatest empires and the most powerful kings are forgotten by time...
But only one thing remains unchanged across every cycle:
Society’s suspicious gaze upon a pure woman!
Maa Sita was purity itself. She endured captivity with unshaken dignity, walked through fire, and still faced suspicion and exile. The same society that later worshipped her first asked her to keep proving herself. The tragedy was never Sita's. It was society's inability to recognise purity.
Thousands of years later, the pattern feels familiar. Sai Pallavi, chosen to portray Maa Sita, is judged and targeted m
They never talk about her qualities: restrained, grounded, free of the usual commercial noise, deeply talented, and possessed of a natural beauty that needs no heavy artifice. They judged for her features, her skin, her hair, her accent, her manipulated holiday photos, her very existence as a living woman who dares to play a goddess. Body-shamed. Called “not Sita enough.”.. TARGETED IN WHATEVER WAYS THEY COULD!
The pattern is ancient. The successors of those who once whispered against Maa Sita in the streets of Ayodhya are still among us. Their tongues speak a different language. Their platforms are digital instead of marketplaces. But the spirit is the same.
And yet... through her, the ancient rises again. When Sai Pallavi steps into Sita’s skin, it is a rebirth. The same dignity that refused to break under Ravana’s pressure and society’s suspicion now walks again in a modern woman who has herself faced the public’s harsh gaze and refused to perform for it. The same stillness, the same depth of emotion, the same refusal to become spectacle... these live in her performances. In that sense, Sita is not only remembered... She is reborn!

When the noise around “beauty” grew loud, India Today chose to look deeper.
This piece does not just defend a casting choice; it reminds us that Sita Maa was never meant to be remembered for her face. She was remembered for her strength, her dignity, and her unwavering spirit.
Grateful to @IndiaToday for standing up for substance over surface.
The most honest Sita Indian cinema has seen in years - Sai Pallavi
